Default Gauge Install Tech

someone asked me about installing a gauge, but i forget who and accidently deleted the message

to whom it may concern

today i wired up my AF gauge and heres the route i took

first down on the lower right panel ( near the fuel pump reset) i popped out the plastic retainer, and then pulled that panel away.

for in vent install
next i unscrewed the 2 screws in the bottom of the dash
pulled off the dash bottom, and then the top

i did vent above light switch

i inserted a soldering iron in to melt a small hole about 4 inches in the vent, you got to go far enough back that the vent pod, when inserted wont hit the wires.

i ran the 3 wires down the side

end of vent install

for both pillar and vent wireing

run wires down along side door panel ( that you have taken off )

and up near the pedals. run any info wires ( wires that will go to gauges, such as my AF signal wire, or a tach wire, or oil PSI tube ect ect, through the fire wall. i went through the big one behind my clutch, and jimmyed them around the 90º bend
left it hang

as far as ground. near your fuel pump is a ground terminal, wire all of your grounds together. bolt in there.

next hook up your info wires.

then wire together all of you hot wires ( red ) at the end put a 5AMP fuse. near the fuel reset so if you need to replace a fuse, jsut pull panel off and replace.

now that this is done unplug the fuel pump reset. i had a green wire and a white. *use circut tester by probeing one of the 2 wires, turning key to on, but not starting car to find the turn key wire on that fuel pump switch * mine was green

cut this wire. add bout a 3 inch section of wire, i would solder these since its important to always have a good connection on this area.

now wire in your hot wire to the green wire and be sure you have an inline fuse

now re connect the plug to the newly added wire, plug back in.

now you have the ground, the turn key hot and your info wires ran.

now whoever asked me this was asking about an AF gauge too.

you will need to add wire to the info wire.

i ran mine along the hood latch cable, coverd with split loom so you cant see it. under the radiator cover. through more split loom. in and back out of the fuse box *be sure to stick close to teh box walls or u cant close it ) throguh more split loom around and up to the PCM

at the PCM theres a wire, for the O2 sensor, its purple with a pea green solid stripe splice this in half, add 3 inches of wire, insert signal wire.

solder them together, verry important connection. if it breaks loose you go no where.

check all of your connectons make sure its all good.

ok go back up top put your dash together, insert 2 screws at the bottom, replace panel on side.

for vent pod, pull out wires, hook up, snap in vent

for pillar your good to go.

now since you did turn key HOT
when ur car is on your gauges are on, when your car is off they are off.

if you want a toggle switch, insert one. if you cant do that PM me

it took me about a hour to put in, but i had to find my turn key hot, and grounds and figure it out

ive added soem pictures, i put text in them but it dident look like it was there when i uploaded.

i dont have a finished picture because my pod wasent here, but thats how to do it i hope it helped! if you need help PM me

sorry about spelling mistakes and what not :P

Those are some pretty good instructions. What type of gauge did you install?

Default I thought this might help

I been trying to hook up a sunpro air/fuel narrow band gauge on a 2008 ford mustang and This is what I got for you. I plan on making it a little more detailed to help with installation better, but I'd figure I'd add this on to go with the post up top for better clarification.
