if you want to upgrade your rear axe to a t lock and maybe ever better gears then the 8.8 is the more expensive, but more logical answer. basically you get everything you want with beefin out your stock 7.5 rear end, but you get a larger stronger axle and it costs less to instal. having a larger stronger axle for around $300 more over juicing up your 7.5 is one helluva performance insurance policy if you ask me.
