Default Pulling the T-lok from a 1993 4x4 Ford Ranger XLT

My friend called me at work today and informed me that my old Ranger (4.0 V6 XLT 4x4) has a T-Lok in it that will fit my s197. We're going to pull it out tomorrow but here's my question to you all. Is there a second T-Lok in the front axle since it's four wheel drive?

It would be "has" a t-lock. I'm not sure how that works though, with 4-wheel drive, but I know that some 4-wheel drives have limited slip in front and back, some only in back and others don't have limited slip in either. I'd make damn sure you have it before you go ripping your truck apart.

You might also consider just buying a new unit. Ford Racing sells their limited slip carrier (named Traction Lock) for around $200 from Summit. Ford limited slip diff.s are clutch based and wear out after awhile so the one in your truck has probably seen better days. For $200 you can afford to buy a brand new one rather than pulling your car apart a second time to put a new limited slip in when the one from the Ranger fails on you.

the whole point is that it would be free. we don't even use the truck any more it's just parked and the front one should be fine because 4 wheel drive was hardly ever used.

no T-lock...Im guessing the front is a open carrier. only 1 wheel pulls to prevent torque steer. like black05pony said...some have t-lock front and rear...thats why Im not 100% sure. you'd have to check the numbers on the housing.
