Default GT Bumper installation question!

Hey guys!
I want to install a GT Bumper so i can install dual exhausts, but if i do, does that mean my rear end becomes 8.8 in instead of 7.5 in? I'm not sure if that height is the bumper or something inside the car...

Thanks!
-Tudor

So let me get this right. You want to change your rear bumper but you are not sure if you have to change your rearend?

Yeah sorry that was really unclear. I think V6's have 7.5 "ends". Is this 7.5 "end" the rear bumper? Or does it have to do with how high the end is raised by springs or suspension or w.e? So if i swap out the bumper, will it become 8.8 in? Still kinda confusing i know, sorry, but thats the best way i can phrase it xP

No the 8.8 is the size of your rearend and you are correct yours has a 7.5 but it has nothing to do with your bumper. It should be a direct fit from the GT bumper to your V6 bumper.

I'm sorry but the two have nothing to do with each other. Google images and look up the difference between a rear end and a bumper

Gotcha, i was really confused about that. I was always under the impression that "rear end" and "bumper" were the same thing Thanks for the help, bud.

ok well the rearend is where the axle is in in the back attached to the wheels if you look under your car its the circle thing that has a big tube on each side then a wheel as for the bumper its just a cover that is fiberglass and is not acutally a bumper at all

Yeah your bumper will be a direct fit, its actually a pretty easy install. When refering to a rearend, whether a 7.5 or 8.8 means the size of the axle, the bigger the more sturdy. You can change out your rearend for the 8.8 which many do when upgrading gears and adding tlok. Its a pretty nice change and the gears make your car feel a whole lot faster.

hey man, welcome to the forums. you dont have to change your rear bumper to go dual exaust unless you just really want that bumper. many of us have just cut a notch in the v6 bumper at a cost of $0.00......

The cutout looks good amustangrocks, I had the shop do mine for me. Its nice to save some money on the cutout, although I still like the look of the gt bumper.

that bit i used in the die grinder is just a metal rasp/file kinda bit. but that plastic is not hard to cut at all. a small grinder bit in a dremel tool would work great too.theres is plenty of spot to cut out for experiment cuts. i did a cut in the middle and then went for it cutting about 1/16 from my paper templet, then sanded it to the paper with the sanding wheel. i touched up the edge with my touch up paint, but you cant see it anyway. ya, the gt bumpers are nice, but i think our bumpers are nice too. eveyones taste varies
