Default 2006 Mustang V6 daily driver gear question?

Hey yall i know this question has been asked on here so many times it's not funny but i've been reading all the posts and i'm still confused?

First a lil background that may help...I have an auto 06 v6 that has a new throttle body, spacer, and bbk cold air intake, true duals with flowmaster mufflers, and has all been tuned with sct xcal3 tuner....It's my daily driver that is used mainly in the city no real long highway driving...I'm planning on putting a T-lok in it either way to remove the 1 tire fires but im not sure wether to change out the gears while i'm in there to?...or maybe just exchange the whole thing out for the 8.8?

My question is wether or not you guys would go with adding the t-lok and gears or the 8.8? and if going with the gears what gears would you recomend if i'm going for fast off the start considering there isn't that much room for top speed down here? Keep in mind this is all on a college kids budget and a mid range of mechanical knowledge so best bang for buck but not necessarily the highest priced lol Thanks in advance for the help

Well for city driving and no need to hit high speeds, go 4.10s all the way. There is no doubt that you should do gears and tlok at the same time. The big price is the install and if you have your rear end took apart to install tlok, the gears can be changed with no problems. As far as the 8.8 goes, it all depends on price. You usually figure $400-500 for gears and tlok and another $300 or more for install. Some of us recently have found an entire 8.8 with gears for around $800-900 and they are a fairly easy install if you have a little experience. The 7.5 is good up to 350 + or - rwhp so if your not planning on building a beast, it will handle. However being better safe then sorry, the 8.8 won't break period. Its all up to preference.

Aight thanks i dont plan on making an absolute beast so im thinking the 7.5 will do fine at least for the moment...i've read that the mpg suffers quite a bit with new gears do you know about how much all that will go down from what i'm getting about right now? i know it prolly depends on car to car but an estimate will help lol

With 4.10s it usually drops between 2-4mpg depending on your driving habits. If you try to go faster, it will be even worse.

Aight man thanks a lot for the help...you got any other good relatively cheap ideas for some power adders?

CAI and tuner and exhaust really make a difference. For about 50 bucks you can get a gt takeoff exhaust and that will add about 10rwhp. The tuner is also needed for you to put the gears so you can reset your speedometer to the correct ratio.
