Thinking of installing CS6 parts, but different supercharger
I like the look of the CS6 kit, but I'm not sure about the Paxton supercharger. Is this really all that good of a supercharger for the V6? I want the most power and functionality for the money.
there is a kid around where i live that has a V6 mustang and he has pretty much all the cobra body pieces u could put on it. inlcuding the rims. i personally dont like the idea of when people try and make there cars look like the V8 but when it comes down to it its whatever you want to do to "your" car lol. after all it is yours lol.
i dont plan on doing any body changes to my 4 banger until i get the 5.0 put into it lol. except im painting it black lol. but yea. dont mean to sound rude or nothin but thats just my opinion on that

I agree with you that using V8 parts on a V6 is just wrong, but I figure that the CS6 parts are made by Shelby FOR the V6.
So...using what they sell for my car...isn't really doing anything I shouldn't right?
However, if I get enough negative feedback on this, I won't do it. I see things that way, but I could be wrong, and I wouldn't want to be "that poser guy" that pretends he has something he doesn't.
I like the look of the CS6 Shelby.I don't know of anyone who has bought one though. The only thing that I would not do if I was making mine look like a CS6,is put any Shelby emblems on it,since it's not an actual Shelby CS6.Don't know about the Paxton,ExplorerExpress.com makes a good S/C.But,it's your car.Do what makes you happy.

Why wouldn't it be an "actual Shelby CS6"?
The only way to have a Shelby CS6 is to buy the parts and build it yourself or have a shop do it for you.
An example of someone who did this is this guy: http://www.v6power.net/vb/showthread.php?t=29129
He has a very nice car now.
Really I'm just picking and choosing from the Shelby CS6 kit that they sell, and I'd be buying what I like from it.
How does that make my car a faux CS6?
Someone who modifies a stock mustang with a new hood, etc doesn't have a faux Mustang, he just has a modified Mustang. Wouldn't what I'd be doing just mean I had a modified CS6?
I'm arguing this just to see what kind of feedback I get. I appreciate any comments I get, thank you.

That guy did a good job on his, looks like a LOT of work and time went into that. Maybe keep your v6 stock, and start saving for a real shelby!

My fault AdmiralRev.I was under the impression that Shelby was building the CS6 as a complete car to sell.Since they are not doing that, putting on any Shelby emblems with the other CS6 stuff that you want to get seems ok to me.I would'nt think of that as being a poser.

I don't believe you would be posing, I have the full gt kit on my car just because I think it looks better then the stock v6. I left all of my v6 emblems however and I do not try to act like I drive a GT. There is nothing wrong with upgrading the body imo. I actually looked at that kit when I was changing up the body, it looks sweet, just a bit expensive. You still won't have a shelby, just due to the fact shelby didn't make it/sell it. I wouldn't like the shelby name on mine, but I wouldn't consider you posing if you had it. And like I said, it looks awesome.

My .02 - First, its your car and until somebody wants to take over your payments, do what makes you happy. Second, if Carroll Shelby didn't want people to emulate the CS6 he wouldn't be selling the parts separately or contracting with distributors (Hillbank, etc.) to sell them. Shelby Auto encourages Mustang owners to buy it's parts individually or in kit form. The only advantage with the kit is that you get the Dash Plaque. I personally like the CS6 front fascia and grille better than the CS8 and I've considered that mod. Anyway, my vote is that you're on the right track and your car will be a source of pride when you're done (if modding your Mustang can actually be "finished"). Bottom line, how can you be a "poser" if the original equipment manufacturers (Ford and Shelby Auto) are the ones encouraging sales of the OEM parts as upgrades to the stocker?

That's the way I feel about it. I'm glad to know I'm not alone.
I hate people who put GT emblems or Cobra emblems etc on a car that doesn't really have the proper engine or parts, but since the CS6 is made specifically for the V6...it is like an easy way to have a V6 Shelby without being a poser.
Now if only other people will see it the same way. :P
Is Shelby actually making a CS6 Mustang to sell like the GT 500's and GT350H?
Shelby buys stock Mustangs off the production line, has them shipped to their Las Vegas plant, strips them of the parts that will be replaced (which, except for the Supercharger, is only suspension, brakes and look good parts) puts on the Shelby markings and signed dash plaque and sells it as a Shelby CS6, CS8, Super Snake (SS) or King of the Road (KR). Or, you can buy the Kit (with or without Supercharger) and build it yourself. Or you can buy the parts individually (without the dash plaque) and build it yourself. Or you can ship your stock Mustang to Shelby Las Vegas and they will build your CSx, SS or KR for you.
Edit: BTW, the Shelby SS and KR must be a registered owner GT500, otherwise Shelby will not do the conversion.
