I was at the dealer a while ago and asked for some touch up paint cuz the paint has somehow been chipped a little off my front bumper and idk how it happend but its been bugging me. anyway so yadda yadda the dealer gave me some touch up paint. Is there a specific procedure to this? or should I just wash my car then treat the area with some alcohol (rubbing or iso-propyl?) and then apply the touch up paint? also is it worth it or does the touch up paint look different enough to where you would see the difference?
how i do mine, i wash it off, then apply a coat. when it dries i apply more, ect ect... i build it up till its close or ull see the chip... just the same color.
it usually takes a whole day of apinting ( paint dry paint dry) to build up that kinda layer
but it looks alot better!

i have yet to find some one else who when changing their oil ( every 2000 miles or when they get bored ) details the under side of their car.
X-C April 2010,Heads, Cam,Internals April 2011, or blown engine, witch ever comes first.
The transformation has begun!
Definitely build it up as O5Horse says. If you don't like how it blends (can still see the edges) you can get a razor blade, slightly bend it into a U shape. Then at an angle from the good paint to the touch up shave off the excess touch up.
If the razor blade worries you, use some 1500 grit wet sand paper to blend it in then clear coat compound and wax.
Only do this if you have a steady hand. I have gotten good at this from 20 years of parking lot scratches!

Auto Zone and Advance Auto Parts carry a great little kit, putty, primer, clear coat, sand paper, everything you need, just add the paint and you have a custom repair kit. I've used it on my Dad's Duramax and my mustang, works fanastic!
