Default 2007 Mustang V6 looking for power gaining catback.

Hi,

I have been taking a loooong time to decide on what to get for my '07 V6. I have now narrowed it to the Bamachips CAI/Tuner and I am now looking for an exhaust. After reviewing posts on the MRT options (aero-turbine and Max Thunder), I am now even more confused.

What I am looking for is an exhaust that sounds nice (for a V6). By that I mean has as throaty and deep a sound as a V6 can have and also gives above average performance. I have read that many if not all of the mufflers are very close to identical when it comes to performance, however I have not seen too many descriptions of whether there is a significant difference or if it is not really noticed.

If anyone can give me some advice on what they feel is a good choice for above average performance (if such a thing exists) and something that sounds as close to a V8 as possible.

Thanks for the help.

Replacing the restrictive OEM muffler with anything is going to net you 8-10 rwhp.

Not really. Whether it's the Mustang V8 takeoff or an aftermarket muffler, they'll all give you about the same HP. The only real difference is the sound. Go to youtube and listen to different sound clips of all the mufflers available and pick the brand that pleases you the most.

i think that the FRPP dual exhaust sounds really nice. throaty and deep. but there's no HP gain involved. but that's just my opionin. goodluck

An aftermarket exhaust will net you just a bit more then a gt-takeoff, probably no more then 2 rwhp difference between all the available mufflers. Going dual also isn't going to change much over a single axleback. Im a fan of flowmasters myself. I have an x pipe with a 2.5in pipe into dual flowmaster 40s and I love it.
