Default Finally got to try the battery disconnect idea today.

(I was sick as a dog for over a week.)

Unfortunately, the gas gauge is still stuck at just over 1/4 tank. The low fuel light still works properly, so I don't think it's the sending unit.
The rest of the gauges work properly, so I guess I'll have to bring it in to a mechanic.

Thanks to all for your input!

Default Finally got to a mechanic, who says the WHOLE instrument cluster needs to be replaced

(I was sick and couldn't take it in sooner.)
They can't just change out the gas gauge. $330 for the part or $200 used, PLUS labor that could bring it up to something like $600.

Do I have any other option? I guess I could just keep driving with the gas gauge not working.

I bought this car at a non-Ford dealership that had the car for weeks, but they deny that they knew the gas gauge was broken and won't fix it. Other than filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, what can I do about it? (I'm in Florida.)

keep checking out E bay. They sometimes have instrument clusters from salvage yards. Just check the numbers code to see if it will fit. Very simple to change out . You might have to have it recalibrated
