I would not buy into a used/rebuild scenario. I'd send that money plus some extra is run brand new parts with no wear factor.
Now you can romp on it. But the first 250 miles or 500 miles max, you better dump the oil like quick! Yeah, she will sing down the road on lift and stuff.

Gotta dump the pumpkin oil like right now before a grand [in miles] is put on it, because money wise, I have no clue. Oil wise is look at that powder come out is you'd be surprised.

Well on the v6, there really is no need to put just a new rear end on the car unless your looking to put out some serious power. Those that do buy an 8.8 in rear end do so with new gears already installed. Many have found this to be a better option and even cheaper then just gears and tlok. Just gears and tlok run around $450 for parts and $300-$400 for install. The rear end can be found with gears installed for between $800-$1000 depending on gear ratio and where you shop. Some do the install themselves, if not its about $200-$250 for the install.
