Default 3.73 or 4.10 Rear axle question

Have an 07 V6. Looking to upgrade my rear axle but I don't know what the difference is between the 3.73 or 4.10. Anyone know the pros and cons of the two?

the pros and cons lie in the area of how you use your car. If you drive city a lot then 4.10's will be a lot of fun and you wont notice much if any of an mpg hit. 3.73's are better if you do cruise on the highway a lot. The performance of the 3.73 wont be as dramatic as the 4.10's but youll certinly have some fun with them. Does this help you?

It does help! I think I'm pretty equal on the city and highway driving. I think I'm going to go with the 4.10! I had been reading about them but really couldn't get much info besides one has more gears than the other.... thanks!

Automatic? go with the 4.10's the step between 3.31 and 3.73 is not terribly noticable. With 4.10's in overdrive I am at 2,250 rpm's at 60 (about as fast as I ever get on the freeway with traffic in my area) The mileage hasn't changed terribly maybe a mile or two less per gallon, but it seems to be averaging out given the fact that even with a 30 mile commute, I am stop and go most of the time. Given that fact, I am probably averaging BETTER mpg's during said stop and go's than with the 3.31's.

someone else here has said this before, but I will re-itterate.

Don't fear the gears. 4.10's don't make your car unbearable to drive. I wish they came from the factory that way.

Even better! I was really wanting the 4.10's to begin with, but I did hear they make the car ride rough. Looking forward to it, been doing lots of research... by the way, will anyone buy the stock axle? I won't have any use for it after the change and I don't have anywhere to store it.

It is going to be hard to get rid of the stock rear end. My buddy changed his out 6 months ago, and had it posted on this site and also on craigs list to not a single call.

also, depending on what you plan for the future, a lot of guys say go 3:73 if youre goin f/i. to just have a faster v6 with no f/i, go 4:10. IMO the 3:73s are more rounded for all types of driving. but the 4:10s would be fun too.

You know, I would buy only goin 3.73 if my plans were to supercharge or turbo my car, but I gotta tell ya, 75 hp with the laughing gas will not render my 4.10's unusable. It will compliment them to the point of extacy. I am sure of it. I can almost feel the car begging me to juice it, it is wispering to me (give me some no2,........cumon...... just a little shot...... give it to me..... I can handle it, you won't be dissapointed...... just give it to me...)
who knows. Maybe I am wrong, but I am thinking that if my plans are to go with the gas, that 4.10's aren't a bad idea, cuz with a window switch, this bad boy is gonna give me 13's. I am sure of it.

I have no trouble on the highway with my 4.10s. They are pretty fun so far, havent even got to floor it yet

Thanks for the input everyone. I do plan in the next year to get a supercharger. Right now just building the foundation. I'm liking the sound of the 4.10's more and more!

I figured it would be hard to get rid of the stock rear axle... hmmmm.... wonder what a junk yard would give me for it.

Yea I had no one to come help me move it and the guys at the shop said they did not want it there more than a couple of days, so I just said strip it down and do whatever with it.
