Default K & N cold air intake

I put a K & N cold air intake on a 06 4.0. It doesn't seem to have increased the horsepower. Someone told me it takes a while to break in the air filter. Is this true? How can I be sure it's working?

You will see the biggest gain by getting a tuner now. It will probably get you about 12 to 15 hp.

A tuner is a device that allows you, among other things, to upload a program to your car's computer that governs what your engine does. A tuner with a good tune will allow your car to take advantage of the extra air that it flowing into your engine.

Though to be honest, a good CAI requires a tune anyhow. Driving without a tune is quite bad. I am not sure about the one you have though.

A shop could custom tune it with a wideband and dyno but that would not be worth the money. Tuners are easy to find and will run around 300 dollars for a good one. You seriously need one not to do damage i was told when i got mine with my CAI.

Not to sound dumb, but I'm not really good at mechanics, are the tuners hard to use? Do they come with codes to set what I need?

you can order a tuner with custom tunes that they make just for your car and whatever mods you have. they are not too hard to use.

It's ok this is the place to learn. They plug into the computer that runs your car and re program it. You don't have to enter any numbers manually they will generally have three tunes or so loaded on it. One is a stock tune, and the others are generally some sort of performance tune. I would reccomend that if you do get one and want to run it on the highest tune to run premuim gas in it to keep it from knocking. If you do a more conservative tune then run the mid grade gas or premium.
To answer your question simply, they will have a digital screen or just a switch and you pick your tune and plug it in and let it do the work.

Do the live wire coils make any difference performance wise?

People have differing opinions as to just what they like, I would say that diablo is probalby the best followed by SCT.

Haven't used Diablo but I have SCT and they are simple and good.
These are the two most popular places around here:
