Exclamation 2007 Mustang V6 screeching noise when in motion

I just noticed a screeching sound while in motion, either just rolling or going 40mph. at rest the noise is not there but either in forward or reverse, the wheels screech. My oil is low and will be having it changed tomorrow but there is not a low oil light or check engine light on. In neutral, i can give it gas and it sounds fine, it just started today but I don't know when because I usually drive with windows up and music on. Is it possible that there is a peeble or stone somewhere in the wheels? I don't have any squeks or squeels when using brakes and I just passed 36,000 miles. 2007 V6 5speed. Could it be the brakes this early?

thanks,
Joe

p.s. I'm noob new to this forum

sounds like the brakes are worn down. With that milage you probably need new brakes. how often do you change your oil? I change mine every 3k miles and it never needs any. The oil is the heart of the motor. It is a cheap price to ensure reliable service

"Hey Joe, where you goin' with that gun in your hand?"

I've never heard the thin pad warning unless the brake peddle was being pushed. If you hear the noise anytime the car is moving it might be a pebble as "Burn" suggested. MIght be something worse like bad bearings. "Coot" is spot on about oil. The BEST thing you can do for your engine is make sure the oil is clean and full (not over full!). You will get many opinions over which oil is best, I think any major brand is fine unless you are hard on the engine. It's more important to change it regularly. I change mine every 5K miles (oil and filter). If cost keeps you from changing it as often as you should, learn to do it yourself. Very easy and requires minimum tools.

also, IMO, if youve always used regular motor oil...dont change to a synthetic. if youve used synthetic since you bought it, then go ahead. basic rule of thumb for me and motor oil.

i swear that has happened to every vehicle ive ever had including this mustang. it can be anything from a little sqeek to a god awefull " what the he** is that". its usually a stone getting between the dust plate and the rotor and stuck in there. ive had some pop out from backing up, and other times having to pull the wheel and pry it out.

i'd bet it was a bad bearing if not the brakes, which probably means you can narrow it down to a wheel if you listen for it closely
