hey i drive a 2005 V6 automatic..
Ive had all these mods done to my stang while i was deployed, I was just wondering if anyone could possibly estimate how much HP i might gain over stock with (below listed) Mods.
thanks fellas !
stock 210 HP-------195 at wheels ? (more or less?)
plus:
-SCT flash tuner with 91 tune
-K&N cold air intake (cone filter)
-custom duel exhaust ( no x or y pipe) just straight back with
magnaflow mufflers and (stock cats)
- 4-10 gears with stock housing
- tracktion lock
- Bullitt wheels (18's rear, 17's front) with nitto tires
I have read on here that a stock V6 mustang is like 187 hp at the rear wheels stock .that would be around 10% loss through drive train . That is on a dyno so go from there
You have a formula that's used, when your using guess work for hp. If you have 210hp at the flywheel, you take and multiply .85 X 210= 178.5 at the wheels. If you had say 210hp at the wheels, you divide 210 by .85 = 247.05hp at the flywheel. Seeing your mods, and the gear swap to 4.10 which you can subtract a little for the gear swap. The gear swap will give you more get up and go quicker, but your going to lose a little in the hp department. With the SCT Tune, but no X pipe to scavenge the exhaust gases a little better. You have to remember, an engine is nothing but an exotic air pump the more air in, and the more air out the more efficient you make it which equals more power. So looking at the equasion, I would have to guess somewhere around 190hp. at the wheels. When you finally dyno your car, post your figures then tell me how close I am, Mike SCT Tuner.

Reason: hp change
theres no way he is only at 185, that is not a realistic number, sorry to disagree ITLRUN, figure 178.5 to the wheels. CAI plus 91 tune is about 18-20 rwhp so now you are at 198.5, add another 8-10 for the exhaust and ur looking at about 210 to the wheels, minus a few for the gears. maybe with an x pipe, give him 215.

i have dual exhaust headers throttle body and spacer cold air intake and custome 91 oct tune and i get 223 at the wheels just took it to the dyno about a week ago
Honestly your probably around 210 or so at the wheels. The auto loses a little more power to the wheels and exhaust tune and cai usually add up to around 30 rwhp. The x pipe will not make a difference. With our cars, just the single exhaust swap will get the most power out of the cars. With bigger engines that have more air to put out, the x helps, but going dual period, as long as its true dual and not a y pipe will be about the same power wise. The spacer won't add but 1-2 rwhp. And your actually hurt by the big 4.10 gears, it makes acceleration faster but you lose around 4% rwhp. Honestly the only way you'll get to 250 is to do some engine work. You could try out a few bolt ons like udp, headers, throttlebody, but boring out your engine would get you there.

I had hdrs,X pipe, dual magna flows,C&L 87oct tune, 5spd and dyno'd 214.8 rwhp and 253.3 rwtq which comes out to around 250 at the flywheel. I think the 220 guess might be pretty close with 91oct.

will pullies really make a diffrence with our cars? if i can get 250 HP from this car, this will completely negate my desire to get a V8. plus, the insurance alone keeps me restrained. There must be a way to acheive my goal. (This is a mustang after all !!) lol
I dont see many performance parts out there. A 4.0 liter V6 cant be that difficult to tune.
please,, any more ideas ?

He will have a bit less then you, he has no headers, which doesn't do much, a higher gear ratio, and the fact is his an auto means he loses some power. Ive heard you can pick up around 10 rwhp with pullies, but there is also the chance of them causing some troubles. Consider getting a new set of heads, the stage 2+ from supersixmotorsports.com shoud bring you closer to your goal, and Im interesting in seeing what the difference will be.

The Manual V6 does 186 HP stock on the dyno. Before I had the headers on mine I did 220 with the listed mods in my sig. Probably a few higher now. This was on a Mustang AWD Dyno at about 68 degrees. As far as Auto, figure a little less at the wheels.

This is what Doug said, i got it off John Demolet site.
Doug @ BamaChips:
"All I can say is WOW!!...We made some great numbers with this kit. In stock trim it made 176rwhp and 198 rwtq. The car in stock trim with my 87 Performance tune made 188 rwhp and 218 rwtq. With the 87 tune and the Demolet air intake we made 195 rwhp and 219 rwtq. That is absolutely nuts with an automatic V6!"
