Sure the camaro 3.6 can make 300hp but at what rpm, if they have to push it to 6-7k get that then you probably give one a heck of a run for the money, like sum weirdo said I'm not worried with my X I'm 345hp at 4750rpms and 375trq, at the wheels 295rwhp and 319 rwtq. the camaro would be about 250-260rwhp, has nayone heard what size gear they'll come with?

i almost bet money it will be low low for the v8 and mid range for the 6

The transformation has begun!
just like we anticipated the challenger to be mean, and it isnt...i dont think the camaro will be that big of a deal. They do make a lot of power...but those numbers are from GM. slap that thing on a dyno, i bet its closer to 280-290. Also it looks like a pretty good sized coupe, unless its got a carbon fiber frame and and a fiberglass body then its going to weigh well up into the upper 3000lb range, maybe 4000. with all the knowleage ive gathered....weight is the biggest factor in the science of speed. i guess we will see when it comes out. if i had to bet now though, id say yea, its probably faster that the v6 stang based on the info we know today...cant be by much though.

Funny story, I had my younger brother with me today, hes 13, and he swares he saw a new camero as we were driving down the road. Needless to say, after a high speed U turn and a high speed pursuit, it was only a challenger. It was a fun story to tell to the cop that pulled me over

i would not worry about the camaro its a 4000lb heap big deal its 300hp and also weights 600lbs more and if its geared like the last gen. camaros then it will be close ill put my 6 against one any day as for the z28 bring it on i can beat a challenger srt8 in my bullitt im sure i can take the z28 and we still have the last true muscle car left were the only one with the true rear live axles all the rest went ricer with full independent and remember the last time you seen a top fueler running a ind. susp. i sure dont
my sister said she wanted a new camaro... we disowned her... lmao no no jk jk
no but thas really gonna piss me off if she gets a faster car then me! i needa strap on the performance parts fast! lol
I wouldn't worry aboutt he camero too much, that way it sounds gm is going down the toilet fast again. and they said the they will probably be out of business buy the end of the month. and the president said that he;s not going to give them anymore money until they can prove that they can be a be more responsible with their money and make money for a change. so I'm not to worried about the camero.

Yeah I wouldn't exactly cheer if they went down the tubes...but I'd smirk a bit if they stumbled, choked on their Camaros, and decided to just release a few hundred.

I admit that It would be bad if they did fail. but the only reason I said what I did is because I work on cars for a living and it seems like all I see anymore is one bad idea after another from all the auto makers. like this for example. making it so the you have to pull out the whole dash just to get to the heater core or any of the little servo motors that open all the doors on the ducts. or making it so that you have to evacuate your a/c to change out the heater core. it's getting a bit rediculous. or putting the thermostat on the side of the cylinder head inbetween the a/c compressor and the alternator. I mean come on.

well... Ford should have made the 2010 V6 closer to 300 hundred horsepower. Instead, they left it alone.
What does this tell us?
It tells us that the V6 sells MORE than well enough with the 4.0 210 hp that they didn't feel the need to upgrade it's power.
It also tells us that the 4.0 are "relatively" easy to modify and draw power out of. I'd say more than half the members here have modified their stangs to something much better than stock. Many with Turbo/Superchargers...
For the extra cost to buy a V6 Camaro (which, by the way, has NONE of the looks and personality of the Mustang) you can get your 4.0 pretty darn close.
that said....
it sure would be easier if Ford just made them faster....Maybe if we all stop buying so many they'd do it.
