Do u know what v6 engine they r putting in the 2011?
The rumor is they'll use the 3.5 or 3.7 litre Duratec, possibly modified a little from what's currently in use. Horsepower is probably gonna be 270 to 300 or so...

If Chevy can build a stock 300HP engine, then so can ford, but way better and more reliable. Like I said before if they manage to put the new V8 into the gt without changing the weight of the car it will(hopefully) spank the crapmaro.

So basically the next Mustang will be faster, lighter, more fuel efficient, and cheaper than the Camaro. In other words Ford will own Chevy in every way
Although I think I heard something about the Camaro getting a new green engine that burns bailout money for fuel

Well I have seen three already since I have been here in Boise since July 1st ( two orange one and one yellow one ), they sure look big and bulky to me, not enough retro for my tastes, to each his own. I will take my Stang any day over a Camaro no what the hp.

I've seen quite a few of the new Camaros on the road, but the red jewel tintcoated one really caught my eye. That's definitely a nice color, but I'm a Mustang girl. Forever.
I don't know about you all, but when the 2010 body came out I was a little disappointed. It looks like they merged the 2004 with the 2005 body style. I mean, I still love it, and I definitely wouldn't turn one down if I had the money to buy one, but the wind was definitely let out of my sails.
If it's true that the 2011 will have more HP, I will definitely have to consider buying one though, but this time it WILL be a V8.

Nothing in that article indicates that its gonna b faster, lighter, more fuel efficient, and cheaper than the Camaro. its going more for the direction of equal to the Camaro. Also its probably gonna cost more than the models cost today. i know u love your mustang and sure do i but the camaro always outpowered most of the mustang models with similar prices, and its the same situation 2day.

Not so great at reading between the lines are you?
For starters the actual weight specs were kindly posted by ChaosFury further up the thread, the V6 Mustang is 379 LBS lighter than the Camaro. Not 100. The Mustang is lighter and that's not likely to change with the addition of a newer smaller displacement engine. With the same power in a lighter package the 2011 Mustang will most definately be faster than a Camaro.
The same will probably hold true for fuel economy. All other things being equal the lighter car wins.
And as for price, Ford isn't likely to give up affordability in the middle of a recession even if the Duratec is more expensive to manufacture. Which I don't see why it would be.

You also have to consider the driver's weight too. Making the camaro even more heavier! So its more like 400-500 lbs heavier. I only weigh 124 lbs, thanks to my high metabolism!
But, I do like the new mustang look over the camaro. It almost looks like they stole it from the 05-09 mustang and added a wider body and a curvier grille. Plus the mustang doesn't fall apart as easy, stated in the previous post.
Well as far as looks go the 2010 Mustang and Camaro might be equal but the Camaro's interior just looks weird. I mean who puts gauges down by the gearshift? How does something like that even make it past the car safety standards?

V6 camaro curb weight is 3771. for the v6 mustang it is 3,401.
I know it is lighter, and that makes things different but dont forget that with a newer bigger engine the gt is gonna go a little bit fatter, reaching about 1500. that is still a big difference, but the camaro still has more power. It depends on lots of stuff, we'll see who gets it in a year .
I don't really see the GT getting much heavier either. The engine is only going up in displacement by 0.4 Litres, they could accomplish that just by stroking the 4.6 and it wouldn't increase weight at all. Ofcourse no one knows much about this new experimental engine of theirs yet. Perhaps they'll go with a beefier transmission, or they may keep the existing one, it's already capable of 400 horses.
At that level the Mustang will be chasing the Camaro a little in power but it will be lighter. Hmm. The difference may be more pronounced with the V6 versions than with the GT and SS

We will have to wait a short while longer to get more details, but the news bodes well. Now that the naturally aspirated version of the new "Lima" V6 is configured for the Mustang, the 355hp twin-turbo "Cleveland" version cannot be far behind.
