Default Supercharging a 2007 V6 engine

Does anyone know if it would be feasible to have a V6 engine supercharged on an 07 pony? If possible, how much more horsepower can I squeeze out of the engine? Would it be better to replace the engine with a V8, then go from there?

Yes... For max boost/power, look into centrifugal... Vortech and Paxton's kits. For a really cool looking twin-screw, powerful (not quite as powerful as centrifugal) look into the X-charger. Both will get you above 350 HP, but the centrifugal's can pump out a bit more with more stress on the engine.

Let us know what you do!

There's no need to switch to a V8. The V6 has a lot of potential and is a good, strong motor.

i agree with those vortex and paxton superchargers and i think it will be far more embarssing for those v8 guys when you smoke them with a v6 just tell them its a supercharged v6 after you already left them in your dust

The xcharger is most common. Turbos, currently, are producing more power then sc. Do a forum search. There are a million threads on this issue.

I have yet to see someone on these forums that make the numbers i make on 8.3 PSI on the same amount of boost, its taken almost 12-13 PSI on the superchargers to meet my numbers.

Im very very glad i went the turbo route

And we need to try to be easier on them when we reply to threads like this one.

We were all brand new kids here at one time or another so we should know how it feels to be in their shoes.

Agreed There are stickeys about searching first. But Sometimes they are just either ignored or not easily apparent.
We can say search first until we are blue in the fingers.
But it does no good anyway. Especially since response time on here is pretty quick.

What are your ultimate goals with this car? is it a daily driver? can you afford to blow your motor? Is this car going to be raced? etc. This helps us answer everything you need to know about going supercharged or turbo'd... or maybe something else like nitrous or all motor

I hate to bust in on this thread, but I didn't want to create a new one...

I have an '05 V6 Convertible and I would (maybe) like to supercharge it some day. I would probably go with the Vortech route, just because it's more reasonably priced. I cannot afford to blow my motor, but I also don't need to be pushing it anywhere near the limits. It's a daily driver, so just a nice HP increase that's not too ridiculous would be great. If I could run 300-315 HP, I'd be thrilled!

What system would you guys suggest I look into? Would it be pretty easy to find a shop willing to install one? I'm just dipping my feet in the SC and TC waters.

The Xcharger should get you what you want. Its a safe system and you can do the install yourself!

Whoa! I could install it myself? Where would I buy one? It seems that they are hard to get your hands on...

Edit: Never mind, just found it on Steeda's website, lol...

i can get you a used one for $2k, not beat to hell either but as for 300-315 horsepower, thats alot easier obtainable with a turbocharger the x-charger needs a bit more boost to meet that goal. Unless ofcourse you mean Crank horsepower not RWHP then 300-315 is easy to meet

Its actually possible to get 342 RWHP N/A on this motor but only one person has done it so far and it costs ALOT to do

Are you selling this yourself? An X-Charger or Turbo? I'd be happy with either. I definitely don't have the 2K right now though - I'm far from it. I've been saving for my new stereo system, so I've got about $400-$500 right now and it would probably take me all summer to get to 2K. But if it's in nice condition and would still be available by then, I would definitely be interested.
