I bought one just like it (for about the same price) off of ebay when I got my new rims and tires with sensors already installed. It comes with instructions on how to put the car in program mode and how to go about initializing each sensor. It is odd that you would need to do this though. I have had my TPMS alarm go off after I reflash my tune, but it normally clears itself. Did you try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it? Worth a try I guess.
