This goes out to anyone running a Bama race tune on their automatic V6 Stangs. Firstly, I love the tune. It is awesome, but I'm experiencing something strange that did not happen with the Brenspeed 93 tune that I was running before. When on the highway, just cruising at say 75-85, with light, even pressure on the gas pedal, my RPMs tend to go from 2200 to 2500 RPM every 15-20 seconds and then back down again. I mean, with no input from me at steady highway speed, the auto tranny/engine moves up and down in RPMs by about 200-300 RPM. Not like it is getting out of the OD and back down to 4th or anything. More like converted locking and unlocking every 20 seconds or so. Or maybe a transmission proportional valve??? Anyone else has experienced this?? I e-mail Doug, and still waiting for input. Any suggestions from the forum members on this weird effect?? Thanks !

i've got an 07 auto 6 also and haven't noticed that. I've been running the 93 race for about 3 months. My car is in for warranty work right now but when i get it back tomorow or the next day i'll check out my cruising rpms.
Could be a proboblem with your tranny, what kind of milage do you have?

Thanks for your input. I really take care of my car. 05 auto, 36K, prestine. I do not abuse it. No problems like that with my other tunes. Used to run Brenspeed 93 for the last 5K. Just wanted to try Doug's since I had heard so much about them. So far... Not impressed, do to this weird tranny/rpm surges. Mostly happens at a steady 80mph. RPMs go from 2200-2500 and then back down again in a span of 20-30 seconds. Pisses me off...... Might have to go back to the other 93 tune. At least I had no problems with it. Don't wanna F-up the tranny after 10K with this tune. I'm waiting to see if I get a response back from Bama. Will chime in if I hear anything...

I have the 91 Race tune from Doug and it is awesome, the only thing im worried is the hard shifting at WOT, i mean its really really hard and i think the tranny is gonna blow, i have to call him and see if i can make it a little easier on shift.
But i have no problem on hwy at all, on normal driving it downshifts and change gears between 3 & 4 alot more than stock but thats no issue.

Let me ask you guys this.... I also noticed, that unlike other mail order tunes, my 93 race tune has NO options/parameters that I can change on my Xcal2. Such as tire size, shift pressure, gear ratios, spark, or fuel. That is my other peeve. So far, I'm less and less impressed. For the time being, I went back to my Brenspeed 93 tune. At least that one works perfect, and allows me to change certain things. Especially the shift pressure under WOT. Today getting on the highway with Bama 93 race tune, I nailed it and the shift between 2-3 was so damn hard that it clanked "metal on metal". I thought that I dropped something behind me..... I'm starting to have doubts about this tune, especially that it seems that it is locked....

Try putting in a different tune (even better-the stock tune if you don't have a CAI) and see if the problem goes away, then put the race tune back in.
Unless things have changed recently, all the parameters on bamachips tunes should be available. If they aren't, send Doug an email and have him send you an unlocked tune.
Venom800tt: You should be able to change the optional parameters in your tune and soften the shift pressure yourself unless you have the above problem also.

^ No actually my tune is unlocked and thats how i changed the gear ratio to match my 3.73s.
Could you please tell me how should i change my my shift pressure please, what option should i choose and what number is the best.

been running that tune for a year, nothin ever happend like that. id talk to doug, he can probably write you a new one. also might try updating your tuners firmware.
