I installed a new FRPP single axle back muffler and lined it up as good as possible but apparently I was off a bit and the tip was touching one edge of the cutout which melted onto the tip when it got heated up.
How do I get this stuff off my nice new chrome tip?
if your carefull about it, you can bend the hanger rods on the muffler to get some adjustment. maybe clamp it in a vice and use some heat if needed. dont try to bend it just on the floor not holding that rod securely or you might tear it off the muffler. figure out which way you need to bend it before pulling it back off. you can open the cutout in the bumper a little if needed with a sanding drum.

With how much plastic is used in cars nowadays it’s a wonder the whole friggin car doesn’t melt on all of us. Good tip learned hard, keep the exhaust away from plastic bumpers.
Is there a rule of thumb when it comes to the space between tip and bubmper? I hear 1/2 in. between pipe and stuff under the car but nothing about the bumper.
My ’05 4.0 has a factory clearance of one inch between the exhaust pipe and the bumper. Assuming Ford knows what they’re doing, I would take that as a minimum desired clearance. I would expect it be good enough for light to moderate mods in street use also. On a highly modified vehicle under race conditions though, things could be expected to get somewhat hotter, who knows about the one inch then.
I put the gt bumper on mine just to make sure that problem dint occur.. iv seen alot of v6 stangs around my area not even cuttin a hole in the bumper for the pipe.. its always just resting on it no bueno

no, thats not cool at all. its too easy to cut or sand the bumper. with duals my heat is devided up, but i did run just single for some months, and never had a problem. maybe drive faster for more air circulation
