Default 2005 V6 Mustang dual exhaust question.

Hello everybody,

I’ve been reading a lot of the threads about all the after market dual exhaust to put on a V6 Mustang, and the more I read the more it seems to get confusing. I’ve even listened to quite a few of them on Youtube but the sound is not all that good. I liked two of them in particular. The SLP Loudmouth, and the Mac.

From what I have read it seems that the X and H pipes don’t really have much benefits for the V6 engine.

The last thing I want is for my Mustang to sound like a 6 cylinder Honda on Steroids.

Has any one installed straight duals with out an X or an H pipe and what does it sound like?

I was considering getting the Pypes duals with the mid-mufflers and X pipe, or going to the local muffler shop and having them custom make me the pipes without an X or an H and getting the SLP loudmouth or the Mac mufflers and having them installed.

lots of people have done that. you could pick up a mid and over axle for the drivers side from a gt, and have the shop cut the y pipe and hook you up. or i imagine they could bend the overaxle too. thats basically what the h is. the little pc that connect the sides is to equalize the sound a little, which i think it does, but really its not that big a deal. the reason i went with it is for the deeper sound and i wanted all stainless pipes. theres alot of choices, the videos never sound good, so its a gamble. for myself, i didnt want "pull me over mufflers" to go on my "pull me over red" stang. i have the perfect setup for me, wouldnt change a thing, but everyone is different.

a lot of guys go custom, and just have a local shop install it straight out the back with parts they have. you can order whatever mufflers you like, h or x pipe, and whatever else you want and have them install it. saves you money if you can do it yourself though. i left it a single exhaust but got a borla axleback. sounds mean, kind of like a small 8cyl at idle but it really growls at wot. im more than pleased with it for now. soon though, i might get it upgraded and add the other side. borla is very expensive(they make frpp too) but its by far the best quality imo.

Your car is a 6cyl it will sound like one no matter what ,, BUT it can sound a little better and give you some performance to boot ,, I went the Ebay way and bought a complete set up , had it installed by a local guy ,, there are so many choices it really is up to you , You can spend big money on this if you want to ,, http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...s/100_3631.jpg

i have a X pipe and slp loudmouths i like them but at WOT they get to be kinda poppy which i dont like. at normal driving and acceleration they sound mean as hell. drone is real bad though but i dont mind. added a roush CAI and tone got lower.

Thanks for your inputs. I ordered a Pypes mid muffler with the x pipe, can't wait to get them so I can install it.
