Default 05 V6 BBK cold air intake

I have read both that this intake needs no tune but some say they have experienced problems. Who has experienced it or know?

i bought the bbk cai and as soon as i installed it the check engine light came on and every thing was attached correctly and there was nothing wrong with the install i noticed a good power gain i was happy with the cai but it needs a tune. it could have been that i already had dual exhaust and headers that could have caused the cai to require a tune but i dont know for sure but i still like my cai

just get a cai with a tuner your gonna need a tuner sooner or later

I would not risk installing a CAI without a tune. If this CAI claims that it doesn't need it, then get a different one (C&L or JLT). A CAI that is worth your money will require a tune. And it is safer to have a tune.

Even if the car does not run lean, you will only get minimal gains from a cai without a tune. You would do just as well performance wise just getting a K&N drop in

I'm also looking for information from anyone who as installed this CAI. BBK claims 20rwhp and 20rwtq. Anybody with this CAI come close to that?

There is no way. You would be lucky to see those types of gains with a cai and tune. Your probably looking at 6-7 hp gains.

To be completely honest with you, there is no such thing as a CAI that does not require a tune. It's a bit of a bummer, but when you accept it and get used to it, you'll begin to really look forward to owning that tuner.

By the way, I'm from Kentucky too.

Anytime you add more air to the mix, you should consider a tune.
