2009 Mustang V6-GT bumper worth it for dual exhaust?
So I'm going to be putting true duals on my 09 v6 as the first real mod to allow it to breathe but seeing as how the rear valence only has one cut, is it worth upgrading to the GT valence? I know it's easy to cut the exit port but if it's worth the money to just replace it I may do it all at once.
Also, where would I get a take off? I checked the usual suspects (newtakeoff, AM, moss, and the classifieds here). Pre painted preferably but not required. Thanks
well let me first say that the GT valence looks amazing, but 300 dollars amazing?? i dont think so. if you take your time and cut your bumper nice, itlooks great. take it from me, i just got my duals installed tuesday, 05horse cut my bumper perfectly, and it looks great

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I was even looking at the 3D Carbon stuff. Do you know if he used a template to cut it out to make it exact or just the diameter of the tips?

I just cut the tip on how I think it should look. You could use an old cd to use how as a templete. I would recommend searching for a rear bumper on ebay and craigslist. I found both the front and rear bumper painted black for $225, so you can find some real good deals. It makes all the difference having the gt bumper, imo it looks ten times better now.

Yeah I'd love to find one but im not having much luck on craigslist, and I'll check ebay after I make a trip to the store. My main thing is that I'm working on a college student's budget so it's a little at a time. I can splurge for the valence but if I don't have to I'd rather put that ~$300 towards a CAI/Tune then the typical TLok and gear upgrade....
i traced the cutout on the rt side on a pc of paper, transfered it to the other side of the paper, cut out the cutout( on the paper) and taped it in place on the left side. when i thought i had it in the right spot, i hogged the hole about 1/16" from the paper and finished it off to the paper with a cheap sanding drum. i used a die grinder, but a dremel, a coping saw, anything that will cut soft plastic would work. you could even just used a sanding drum in a drill.

That is how I would have done it myself. But I have a variable speed dremel tool. I assume this is similar to what you used. I know it will do the job regardless I'm just wondering
well **** keith used a CD, a dremel tool, and a drywall saw, it turned out great!

Well looks I'll just end up cutting my existing lip.
I'll be sure to post pics as soon as it's done, although no promises on a timeline because I'm still piecing it all together
I'll be calling around getting quotes this weekend and the beginning of next week but what would be an acceptable quote and how much did you guys pay?
I know it depends on the muffler options but I'm trying to keep it under $500 so you Borla and FFRP guys just leave me alone, or give me a loan (oh look, I can rhyme!)
This is a personal preference. I really like cutouts on a V6, think it looks classic. Depends on look you are going for. I used a regular box cutter for mine with a new blade. No problem at all. Location is critical. My setup came with templates and metal cutout covers. The templates can be got form online and you can use them with any setup since mustangs have fixed muffler brackets. Just check out the FRPP true duals and the instructions are online. I payed $550 for mine BTW.
Good luck!

That's the way to go if you're trying to keep a budget. Although it's a straight switch in going from the V6 to the GT bumper, it's hard to find a good bumper that you don't have to paint. Painting it raises the price quick, as its hard to find a cheap paint job in Southern California.
