Default launching in an auto

is it ok for the trans to put the car in neutral, build rpms and drop it into drive.
i figure it's the same as dropping the clutch, but i wanted to see what up

that doesnt sound too good for your torque converter. your better off putting it in 1 then holding the brakes and building rpms not enough to burnout but enough to launch.

Yea man i dont think dropping it from neutral would be good for your tranny man. so just keep launching from drive. But what i do is just put your left foot on the brake and right foot on the gas and build a little rpm. then just launch like a bat out of hell.

when i was a kid, ha, that was known as a nuetral slam. we did it, but it probably wasnt the best thing for the old c4`s in the 60`s stangs.

To get the result you are looking for I think you want to install a torque converter with a high rpm stall.

the ole nuetral drop..LOL dont do it. you'll tear something out..probably the rear end. leave it in drive with O/D and T/C off. build the rpm to 1200/1500 and launch from there. you cant manuel shift it any better than it shifting by itself. cant beat the computer at shifting

Best way to launch your stang is as was said; brake with the left foot and ease up the R's to about 1500 then launch in drive as you cant beat the computer for shifting. I have 3.55s in a 8.8 tlok and thats the only way i get a good time slip.

if u build up rpms wioth gas and brake alot too... u can heat that converter up thats bad too, get a better one, or just wait till u see yellow

launch in drive, powershifting on an automatic meh.... not really i deal

if u got a tuner u can even further your shifting from drive
