Default Installing Stangwires Foglight Harness???

Hello! I'm just about done wiring the GT foglights on my V6. I'm using the stangwires harness that is meant to be used with the GT switch found here: eBay Motors: 05-09 2005 2006 2007 2008 Mustang Fog light Harness GBC (item 200325109872 end time Apr-06-09 10:53:24 PDT)

My question is for the last t-tap (which is used instead of straight-up cutting and soldering a wire; it basically splices into a cable by working as a locking cutter), it says that I have to install it into an orange/green colored wire but I can't find it. Does anyone know if this wire is colored different in a V6, as maybe this guide was for a GT?

The guide describes this wire as "not normally used on base model cars. If this wire is not cut, there will be a voltage drain that will discharge the battery"

The only wires I can find are the following, arranged according to the number in the plug they correspond to.

1 black
2 yellow/blue
3/4 empty
5 black/green
6 empty
7 black
8 empty
9 (beige or cream-colored)/white
10 red/white

I was able to find the orange/green wire coming out from the hole in the firewall, although for some reason it doesn't lead all the up to the light switch.

Looking at the pony package guide, http://www.cjponyparts.com/Pictures/...illInstall.pdf on step 32, does that mean that I can splice in my new wire into slot 8? Also, since my own stangwires guide says I need to cut the orange/green wire anyways, should I go ahead and cut the wire, even though it doesnt lead up to the switch?

it looks to me like you replace the orange and green wire out of the back of the headlight switch with the one provided the same with the purple and orange again out of the back of the headlight switch .. the stock fog lights are run through the smart box , this harness by passes this box and uses two relays ,, atleast mine is

I was able to get some help from the person I got the harness from. Here is what he said.

Quote:
Normally, the T-tap would attach to the orange/green wire on switch position 6. This is where the green harness wire attaches. Probably the best way to do this is to attach a short piece of wire to switch position 6, then put your T-tap right onto that piece of wire. That way, you can still disconnect or re-connect as need be.

The second difference involves the wire for the GT indicator light. You have indicated that there is no wire in switch position 3. OK, so what you will need to do is extend the short blue wire so that it follows the harness around to the driver's side of the car and comes into the driver's compartment along with the green wire. The blue wire will go to switch position 3. This will illuminate your fog light indicator.
Now I just have to figure out how to attach that wire into position 6 since I don't have any female crimps in order to place the connection into the plug.

Thumbs up

I'm not sure if you have the stangwire foglight harness for use specifically with the GT switch (not the harness that allows you to use the stock V6 light switch in the console), but if you do, yeah.

Use the green cable that went through the firewall and attach it to the orange/green cable in position 6 using the t-tap. This is to complete the circuit in order to control the lights.

When you follow the last step in the directions by connecting the blue cable into the appropriate place in the fuse box, you're essentially relaying that connection to the wire in position 3. This allows the fog light indicator on the GT switch to turn on.
