Default Diablo or SCT? Which one?

OK,Would like everyone's opinion on this question.A shop in okc uses Diablo and they priced me at $500 for the Diablo and custom wrote tune/dyno.Said it would take them 1-2 hours to get everything set just right.

There's another shop in okc that uses SCT.They priced me at $770 for the SCT and custom wrote tune/dyno.Said it would take them 3 hours to get everything set just right. Which one do you think is the better deal? Both places are very good and both have been highly recommended to me by other people for their custom tunes, dyno, and knowledge and professionalism.

It's obvious that the SCT person does charge more for his dyno time/expertise.He has 15 years experience, the Diablo person has 10 years.

Or do I go with Doug or Chris and not have the Mustang actually customed tuned on a dyno.I've heard that unless you are going to turbo or SC that a custom tune/dyno is a waste of money.Opinions please.Thanks.

you should go to the shops and ask them for dyno files of mustangs that have been customed tuned with mods simillar to yours and compare it to a tillman or bama tune dyno runs and see if 500+ bucks is worth the dyno time

for a mild bolt on car an email tune is fine. I've email tuned TT cobras without issues. Email tuning just takes a lot longer, but if your tuner will read your data the tune will be very similar to a dyno tune. If you want that last couple 1-2% of power, then its best to do that on the dyno because its safer.

just order a tuner from bama or brenspeed for 400. you get 3 custom tune files for free and free updates. unless you're running a supercharger, you won't need a tune like that. sct is better though.

okcreferee, I went with the Steeda/SCT combo through American Muscle. Its easy to upload and download and the sct tuner then, I dont know about now, has numerous parameters that you can adjust yourself. The price when I bought it was centered between the two prices you mentioned.

I've got similar mods like you and agree with JS, comments above.

Thumbs up

I recently purchased my SCT SF3 from AmericanMuscle.com for $379 with free custom tunes for life. If you add any bolt on mods, they will send you a free tune for the octane fuel of your choice to get things just right. I replace my 17" bullits in the winter with 16" sport wheels and have a 91+ performance tune for both setups (including my bolt-ons). Everything works GREAT!

even though a dyno tune sounds good, i would just get a sct tuner from a sponsor with some tunes. you didnt say anything about a cai,( which i would advise a combo package) so if your just talking the tuner, thats what i would do. you can always downlaod tunes from someone else for 50.00 a tune if you watch for a sale. and get a dyno tune down the road if you ever really feel the need. the next tune i try is gonna be from brenspeed to see what they can do. ive got tillman and bama, they both run good. jmo
