Default x charger questions

ok well sorry to start a new post but everytime i do a search it tells me i have to wait 15 seconds so i do and then next time it says i have to wait 38 seconds. so idk. anyways sorry well i figured out what was wrong with the car!!! it was the fact that the regular canned tunes wouldn't work with a roush cai so i had to get a custom tune!!!!! anyways well now thats its all good i really want a x charger now!!!!! at what mileage is it bad to supercharge your engine??? i have 30,000 miles and some ticking noise that everyone says is normal but have never had any experience with ticking engines. anyways i really want a x charger or maybe a v8 with a whipple but with money i should have a x charger. which setup is the best?? i live in tucson so should i get the CA spec or the hi-po one??? thank you guys for all the help!!!!!!

I'm back... And I'm going to be nice this time .

Do you know what an X-Charger is? It is a supercharger. Do you know what a supercharger does? It forces more air into your engine, allowing for more explosive and powerful engine performance. It puts a lot more stress on your engine's internals. 30,000 miles isn't bad, you would probably be okay with supercharging it as long as you don't run a high boost (more boost = more air = more horsepower).

You want a V8 with a Whipple? That would be very pointless... You're better off getting a Mustang GT then getting an engine transfer done.

Either an X-charged V6 or a Whipple-charged V8? That's comparing a BMW 3 series to a Ferrari. Huge difference in performance there.

Obviously the hi-po is a much better setup. You'd be better off with that.

I pray to the lord you aren't thinking of installing this yourself?

why hello again!!! yes i know exactly what a x charger is! and yes i know what a supercharger is and does! i am just wondering if it would be cost effective. i mean i would finance it through steeda and that would be the hi-po unit with steeda's cold airkit. that sounds good to me anyways! im just wondering what would be more cost effective putting a x charger on it or a v8 engine in it then a whipple on top of that. my last bf had a 03 cobra that had a kenne bell on it and i loved that thing i think more then i did him.

Ouch...

Alrighty then! You've learned a lot within the past few weeks, huh?

If I had a V6, the X-Charger would be my top choice. I love twin-screw blowers; the low end increase is the best!

Very cost effective. I say go for it!

It's not easy to do a V8 swap. Not worth it... You would just be driving a V8 with V6 suspension, looks, etc and not be near the performance or drive ability of an actual GT. + it'd be kinda dangerous lol

What I'm trying to say is... Unless you got about $15,000 lying around (which all college students have), a V8 and Whipple wouldn't be your best choice.

X-Charger for the win! Are you installing this???

And you'll be destroying stock GT's in no time !

The Xcharger will be more cost effective. You will get a nice power increase, and it won't cost an arm and leg. Doing a swap is expensive and requires several supporting mods.

BTW shelbygirl, do you happen to know Smokey88? Hes got a fiance that has a v6 named Shelby.

oh wow i never even knew that there was another person that did that i thought my fiance was the only one lol. ya i would def go with the x charger it is more cost effective and you will still keep some of your v6 gas mileage compared to a v8. the x charger has a nice whine to it too you should you tube it. sixers007 is right it will not be cost effective to do a v8 swap especially since you know nothing or well some about engines. just get the x charger good luck with finacing

if you get an Xcharger go through explorer express,,,they make them for steeda. The complete kit is shown on their website along with instructions for the install.
I did it myself and must admit it was pretty easy.Everything needed in the kit,,,except some tools.

I get 19mpg in the city and dont do a lot of freeway driving yet. Big trip coming on the 11th.
I use a 91 octane tune and it works fine. I have raced it and best time is 13.897. 97 mph. Better times at a lower altitude are a given. Never dtno'd but the Butt says yeah baby..
Normal driving its not on boost, but when you accelerate its there, right now.

For the V6 its perfect, lower insurance and GT beating performance,,,thats a fact.

Explorer express is a great place to deal with and Dave is superb at tech support.

Run an x-charger it's safe. It's more predictable compare to a turbo. Turbo will just give you headaches if you don't have any knowledge of what's going on. Enjoy the boost. Just wondering what kind of ticking noise are you hearing? Posting a vid or sound would be helpful.

Ps: not a rookie in real life, just in this site I suppose. lol

make sure not to exceed too much boost.just be careful with these theives, when they hear a young girl, they tend to take advantage of themand try to rip you off( i know cuz its happened to my sister and mom!).and what kind of ticking?when did it start?most engines tick, which is usually valve lifters.hell, mine ticks alot!!!and whoever does the install, make sure they have warranty on the labor, and make sure you get all promises in writing.im not trying to say your not knowledgeable but be careful with companies!!

i had what I thought was a ticking sound in an older mustang I once had. Turned out to be a leaky exhaust gasket. There are so many possibilities...look listen and feel...even try a stethescope to get closer to the source.

if youre worried about your motor they now have an intercooled x charger. it would be safer and would cause less stress with cooler operating temps. also theyre able to run 11.5psi now. supposedly thats safe...im still only gonna run 10 at most. im still saving up, should have the money by july after i bite the bullet and get my 8.8 bought. thats another thing you might consider...gettin a supercharger will cause a lot of stress on a lot of things. i started modding my car to be ready for the system and im just now ready for it. an 8.8 with a trac lock and gears would be very wise. a 600ft 1 wheel peel at the track wont get you anywhere haha

Default go for it Shelby...

If you could find someone to let you drive theirs you wouldn't think twice about it. I heard a sound clip of Mr jimmys on youtube I ordered it the next day with the 2.8 pulley. I just added a Zabteck Throttle body and screaming demon coil, hope to put it on the dyno next week to compare the #'s.

I was looking at these chargers today. Are the 2.8 pulley (11 psi) kits able to be installed on an essentially stock motor like the 3.0 (6 psi) kits? I'm still kinda new to the car moding hobby but I thought you had to modify the fuel system to allow more fuel in for that amount of boost.
