I have had my duals with Pypes Violator mufflers on my car for a few weeks, and although they sounds awesome around town and at WOT, the setup gives me a drone headache on the highway. I drive about 70 miles each day at steady highway speeds of 75-80 or so. My question is... I want to keep my Violators, but cut down on the drone as much as possible on the highway. I do not want to try Dynamat, since my trunk is already well insulated. Now, how about adding mid pipe resonators into the mix??? Two, straight glasspacks maybe? I could get some Cherrybombs, or Dynamax and have them put in the middle of the mids. But, what length should they be? I found 8" and 18" in 2.5 OD. If I have them put in, should I have them staggered in position, so that the drone will be reduced? If I put them in the same spot on both mids, then the mufflers would be generating the same drone/frequency sound out both mufflers at the same time. I think that I'd want to avoid that, right? What would you guys suggest. My thought is that two small glasspacks in the mids, would mellow down the Violators a bit, and cut out the darn highway drone at 1700-2300 rpm range. Suggestions welcome.....

I would install the glass packs backwards (with the scalloped openings pointing rearward rather than towards the engine for less back pressure) and in the same location on both pipes.

Pypes has cherry bomb type of mufflers. That is the kit that I got for my V6 but without the violators. I didnt take it out on the highway yet so I don't know what they sound like at a constant speed. I f you go onto Pypes web site they have a section with different instalations with sound. They did what you want to do to a V8 mustang.
