Default Cold Air Intakes: AEM vs C&L

i have heard many different opinions on CAI's and what brands to get. i want to know what is better in the long run, which delivers more horsepower, and which CAI is, in general, "getting your moneys' worth"?

the two cold air intakes i am refering to are:

Aem's Brute force cold air intake

2006 Ford Mustang AEM Brute Force Intake

C&L's Air induction system

2005-2009 Mustang V6 C&L System

I think both are great intakes none the less, but i would beware of none tuned CAI. obviously if you don't need to correct the air/fuel ratio then that just tells you how little its really affecting the car. with a C&L its needed for the car to run right with the new CAI cause the increased amount of air to the stock level of fuel causes it to run lean without a tune. based on that i would say that if you want more power then go with a C&L or other tunable brand, you will get more out of it.

thats a good point. i didn't think of that. my question though is that the brute force line is a CAI designed for trucks, so wouldn't that imply that it takes in a lot more air. also i have heard that there are heat issues with the C&L CAI. Does anyone know if that is a major issue?

Heat is a factor in all cars that run, the engine makes heat and the engine compartment becomes hotter then outside in somecases, this is just a fact, any CAI you get will have heat issues but compared to a stock box without any type of shielding the CAI intake air temperatures are alot cooler then the stock airbox. in regards to the AEM being a truck brand, yes and no, i had a AEM on my Fiance's 2004 Ford ranger before she traded it in on a mustang and the difference was unnoticable unless she was in the 5000 rpm range. just because its on a truck doesn;t mean it draws in more air, the power ratio for a truck and the fuel/ air ratio is different then with cars.if you put a C&L CAI on a truck its not gonna perform the same as if it was on your mustang. if you want the best for your car its gonna cost, horsepower costs money, simple as that. if your content on gaining 6 hp with a AEM for 270 bucks compared to 19 with a C&L for 320 then so be it, but horse power costs money.

the best bang for your buck is a jlt cai and a sct tuner combo with tunes. american muscle has a good price, and try chris rose at tillmans or bamachips. the jlt will perform as good as a c&l for alot less cash

I prefer the C&L but there's nothing wrong with the AEM.

Go C&L, it's my favourite cai and best looking beside most hp gain. Jlt & Demolet cai are good choices too but I still vote for C&L because I got one
