Default 2007 Mustang is there a shift kit?

I was recently suggested adding a shift Kit to my 2007 Mustang. I was wondering if I needed one, what a shift kit was, and what does it do for the cars preformance? Also I have searched the back logs of here but found no mention of it for the newer Mustangs will they need a trans cooler, and what if they are an Automatic Transmission will a shift kit add anything?

the old shift kits with the balls and springs from the old days has been replaced with the computers in the new cars. you need to get a custom tune and they can make it shift as hairy as you want

forgot to add: they allready have coolers. the custom tunes can control everything like when and how fast and how hard it will shift. and along with that, you get a ton more performance from the motor. its a win win.

1+++ on what Mike said, all done with the tuner these days. Factory settings are pretty darn sloshy, In fact, I was more impressed with the difference of the shifting, than I was with the power increase that the tuner gave me, (although there was a NOTICABLE power increase for sure). My auto can "chirp" the tires from 2nd to 3rd now and comes darn close to doing it from 3rd to fourth. On the track I wouldn't be supprized to hear a bark from 3rd to 4th.

'Chirping' the tires is what we call it when you shift from 1-2, 2-3, etc. and the tires slip going into the next gear, making a short squealing sound.
