Default Running with no muffler

Yesterday while I was working on my car (changing the oil, rotating the tires, and changing out the rear end fluid), I decided that while my car was up on the hoist I was gonna take off the muffler and run around the block just to see what it sounds like. I must say, I LOVE the sound! Too bad, I would probably get pulled over for being too loud, especially when I get on it. I did notice that when the car got into the upper rpm range, it sounded alot like what F-350 and Ram 3500's sound like with the diesel engines and the 5" exhaust when they slam the throttle. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
Maybe some day I'll go with the mid-muffler system, but that's not anywhere in the near future.

I've heard and seen alot of guys running with no mufflers. They have the H or X pipe and then run tubes straight to the back. It has a very nice sound to it. Yes, it does depend on your local friendly officers if they will pull you over or not.

You could have a pipe with a rolled tip custom bent for you by an exhaust shop.

i`m kinda suprised so many people like that sound. its not a quality sound, just loud. the guy across the road took his muffler off his v6 vert and put a straight pipe on. he loved it. i thought when i heard him coming up the hill here that it was some old junk car with a rotted out exaust system. his parents who live next door thought the same as me. i`m thinking this is for sure an "age" issue

nah, i get alot of compliments from 40 year old vette owners and other mustang owners, they usually ask if i have flowmasters or what kind of muffler i have and i tell them none they laugh and then they say well it sounds good!

it seems to be more of an RPM thing, certain times i hate the sound, other times i love it..... riding around downtown in the low rpms gains ALOT of attention and it sounds beastly

ahhh, ya now that you mention that, coming up my street is a pretty good size hill, so not a good rpm range. it is against the law here and wont pass the inspections we have to get.

Yeah, I really don't think there will be any problem. If you go catless with no tune, then you would probably screw up your engine.
