Default how to change engine oil

for my buddy who asked *cough* umm golden..slug...70 *cough*

tools needed
filter wrench
9/16 closed endd wrench ( i think )
SAFETY GLASSES

step one start car and let it get warm. doesent have to be super hot just warm.

step two jack car up with wheels chalked

Wearing saftey glasses place oil pan under drain plug on the oil pan and use closed end wrench to loosen drain plug. becareful oil will be hot. lower jack and let it drain till the drips stop.

Step three raise car back up and use oil filter wrench to loosen oil filter becareful oil will drizzle out.

Step four place drain plug back in. and wipe clean

Step five take new oil filter, open a quart of oil put some on finger and lube up rubber seal
look up to the filter screw and make sure the old gasket is not stuck on.

Step six screw filter on, hand tight, quarter turn with filter wrench.

Step seven add 5 qts of oil ( V6 )

Step eight start car and put in a new oil change sticker and record in user manual.

Awesome Goldenslug70, er SilverBullet07. How did you like the cramped space for the filter wrench?

I had found that on the wife's Mustang 4.0L it was so low I could not use my ramps.. Going to have to make some that work.. But this is what I found to save a ton of time in changing the oil in that motor.. it's also much cleaner... Jack up and remove the passenger side front tire.. Do slip a jack stand under it just in case.. You can reach the filer with ease and makes for easy cleanup... I found I had enough room to drain the oil from the same side... Works great for me.. Tight quarters under there for sure.. ! George

tight quarters means alot of power in a little space lol....
i know a GT person who was quite jelous of our small engines, and tons of room, with almost as much power as her engine, and no room

The only thing I'd add is that having some cardboard under the oil catch pan is handy for catching any spills or drips.

Not sure if it would work for your ramps, but mine is lowered just enough that I can't get a floor jack underneath it. My solution was to put a 3/4" piece of plywood in front of the tire, and drive onto it. That raised the car just enough that I could get a jack underneath.
