Default Am I giving myself a little too much credit?

So I have decided to purchase an 8.8 rear end with 4.10 gears from new take off. I want to save the labor costs for installing it but I have never worked on any part of a car before and don't have a lift. Should I break the ice and install this myself?....If i do that, what should I do for a lift?
thanks in advance!

Probably a better idea to have someone else install it for since you have no experience. You could try to find someone who knows how to do it and is willing to help you through the process

But a Service Manual or run a search on it ,, it is more heavy than hard to do ,, If your going to work on the car might as well get yourself a good Jack and some Jack Stands so you will have them in the future ,, A friend or two will help out a bunch when it comes time to lift the old one out and the new one in ,, You sure about 4.10s ,, 3.73 seems to be the Majority choice around here , Do you have any other mods in the car ??? Do some research and your home work it will all work out for ya ,

yeah, i did it with a friend at my auto tech class, it took both of us to lift it, and we aren't small. But the lift helped, and we had all kinds of tools at hand. It isnt something novice to do if you haven't done much else. Took us about 2 hours.

How hard was the screeming demon/livewires to install? Did you replace the spark plugs or just re-gap them?

yea, i replaced my plugs and gapped em to .065 install was a breeze though. as for the 8.8, you'll need 2 people and a lot of patients, and a lot of tools. might cost ya 80$ to have a shop do it though.
