Default Optimum shifting points when racing?

Hey guys, I was wondering what the optimum shift points were when racing in the 4.0s with a manual trans. Hoping to get out to the track soon and wanna squeeze out as good a time as I can.

Rule of thumb, from an old time racer. Shift out, just before the nose starts to drop, Mike. SCT Tuner

i always shift right before the rev limiter (or would it be governor??). if you hit that it will absolutely kill your time

telling you when to shift is one thing...feeling it is another. id say 5500-5600 is the sweet spot though. like was said before...shift out before it drops off. do some practice on back country roads. it might sound like a rookie thing to do...but practice makes perfect

Yeah I know you get a feel for it, I was just wondering where abouts to shoot for as this car is still very new to me. I'm not a fan of running them to redline, especially since most cars peak quite a bit earlier and you could be making better use of the power curve in the next gear.

find your powerband...about 2-500 rpm out of it.

experiment you want your rpms to shift into a powerband too.

dont want to bog it down, but at teh same time liek when winding out second gear, dont wanna wind it so high that ur 3rd gear starts too high
