i just installed some( not pypes) last night. i left the head studs alone, and used the original nuts too. the only bolts i needed was the 4 flange bolts. had to tweek the coil bracket just a little, since it gets moved out 3/8", put all the bolts on loose then tighten them up, and the dipstick i removed for the install, just pulls out and it will bolt right back up but i need a longer bolt. i unbolted the 3 flange bolts no problem from below with extension and air gun instead of cutting them ( except fot he top drivers side 1 from the top unscrewed by hand after the lower one is out.) once the y pipe is loose at both flanges, the stock manifolds came right off. plan on some time, its not a fast install. i am surprised it didnt come with new head bolts, even my generic one did, i just didnt use them.

yeah you don't need to do anything else to it. I used the original head bolts as well. Didn't have to torch anything. Pretty easy job. Took me only 2 1/2 hours to do. Your gonna have to remove three more bolts as well so the whole headers fit perfect. Or maybe it was just the bbk headers. 1 on pass side. 2 on driver side. Hope this helps

wow it sounds like it was easier for yall than for me. I had to undo motor mounts, transmission brace, then jack up the motor, remove starter, and then i was able to get to manifolds so i could remove them
are yall running shortys?

oh man, i didnt have to do any of that. the 2 flange bolts on the pass side, a straight ext. went right to them, the lower drivers side i hit with a swivel and a ext.,,,they came right off, the the top drivers side was finger loose from the top. removed all the nuts from the manifolds, they wiggled right out. the headers went right in no problem. it is a little tricky getting the flange bolts and nuts on by yourself, gotta sqeeze your arm into a couple tight spots.

ok thanks for the help guys. good to know that I only need the gaskets to seal the headers to the cylinder heads. I will see if I can get them installed next weekend maybe I have so many projects right now that it's not even funny.

Default V6 Mustang ebay stainless headers

theres about 3 or 4 places on ebay selling the generic shorties for around 100-110.00. theres a couple doing the buy it nows for that price but the shipping varies from 22-35.00. i bid on the ones from e-worldsales1, the shipping was free, but the reason i went with that one was cause they said they were 1 5/8". i got them for 114.00 shipped which was pretty cool,( last week same place went 105.00 shipped) but when they came they were 1.5". i`m guessing they all get them from the same supplier. they emailed me and offered to pay for some pics of them installed but i wrote back and said i would not post the feedback or supply any pics and told them they needed to change that ad info. their responce was " we just use the info our supplier gives us". they look nice and even the 1.5" is a little larger than the stock holes in the cast manifolds. so like anything off ebay, buyer beware.
