Default V6 Mustang ebay headers

theres about 3 or 4 places on ebay selling the generic shorties for around 100-110.00. theres a couple doing the buy it nows for that price but the shipping varies from 22-35.00. i bid on the ones from e-worldsales1, the shipping was free, but the reason i went with that one was cause they said they were 1 5/8". i got them for 114.00 shipped which was pretty cool,( last week same place went 105.00 shipped) but when they came they were 1.5". i`m guessing they all get them from the same supplier. they emailed me and offered to pay for some pics of them installed but i wrote back and said i would not post the feedback or supply any pics and told them they needed to change that ad info. their responce was " we just use the info our supplier gives us". they look nice and even the 1.5" is a little larger than the stock holes in the cast manifolds. so like anything off ebay, buyer beware.

I've heard of the ebay shorties before and considered buying them myself. Then I read about how much of a pain in the ass it is to swap headers out. ]

Getting back on topic though, how big are the stock manifolds? They don't look like they're much bigger than 1 1/4". With aftermarket not yielding much gain over the stockers anyway how much will that 1/8" make in the grand scheme of things?

its not that bad to swap out. i`m old and slow and i dilly-dally but nothing about it is hard, just a bunch of bolts to remove and install. the 1 1/2" stainless headers are about .100 bigger than the stock holes, but the more important thing is that every tube has its own flow path vs 3 cylinders sharing the same port. i dont think the 1/8" is a huge diff. i think the bbk`s are 1 1/2". for the money, these do look good, and i`m sure they are helping a little bit. so much nicer than the rust for sure. for about a hundred, i`m glad i did this mod. i didnt like the site saying they were something they werent. on the floor they look like chrome. on the car, first time you run them, they turn gold, which still looks cool.

Is the swap fairly easy? I recall reading about people fighting around underneath the car for four or five hours and coming out bloody knuckled and filthy.

I climb around and get filthy enough at work, i'd rather not do it at home too. But if it's a swap that can be done from under the hood then I might consider them again - especially for $100 a pair!

i left the head studs alone, and used the original nuts too. ( some brands had a couple mainfold bolts that hit the pipes and had to be removed. i only have 1 that is close to one tube, i might just cut the torq end off with a die grinder.) the only bolts i needed was the 4 flange bolts. had to tweek the coil bracket just a little, since it gets moved out 3/8", put all the bolts on loose then tighten them up, and the dipstick i removed for the install, just pulls out and it will bolt right back up but i need a longer bolt. i unbolted the 3 flange bolts no problem from below with extension and air gun instead of cutting them ( except for he top drivers side 1 from the top unscrewed by hand after the lower one is out.) once the y pipe is loose at both flanges, the stock manifolds came right off. sounds like most guys can do it in 3 hrs, took me a little longer.

I'm actually started to get a little excited about this mod. Do you feel any difference realistically?

Also considering the Screamin' Demon Coil and Livewires. I might have to do those and these stainless headers at the same time for that 'cumulative' effect.

so far, i`m not feeling too much, but i`m playing with a tune right now and havent had much time testing. a dyno would have told whats up and i wish i could have done that. i can hear a diffference in the sound. its gotton some uhhs and ahhs when i open the hood i still think every little mod adds up in the end. i`m not saying everyone needs to have these on their car, but i wanted them on mine.

under the car is unbolting and re bolting the cats.

cut the nuts off save time then bolting up the new ones is easy!

05horse, i was wondering when you would chime in. i was looking at the option imp. you posted a while back, i think they are the same ones, but the shipping cost made them a little more. mine came in bubble wrap bags, no papers or name or info came with them. i`m thinking all the sellers have the same ones.

they do

i actuly bought 2 sets one from the import and one from soemwhere else
the ones from somewhere else had a weld on top of the last tube drivers side the imports dident....
yea they are all teh same thing

made in china

brand is KCR

they will tarnnish after a month or so and teh bottom flange will have a few pits, but over all i love them, and get loads of comments.

ill prolly end up ceramic coating mine in the long run...but hey for $105 for some cheap looks, and possible ( although unlikely ) hp gains why not.
