I'd have to say you might loose a little bottom end power because of lack of compression. I have the BoomTubes on my car, and I did notice a little loss of power in bottom end. But about mid range power I felt a noticeable increase.
Then again maybe it's just me. It isn't a huge difference in loss, if there is any at all.
Also, were you referring to single or dual exhaust? I know BoomTube makes a single. I was referring to duals in my post.
Another thing I'd like to point out with the BoomTubes: when you first start the car up, I personally think they sound more on the ricer side. I have to admit I did not like it very much. But after about 600-1000 miles, they really got a lot deeper sounding and now I love them.
Just wanted to let you know that so you don't just take them off right away and put your flowmasters back on.
Good luck.
