Default Header Questions

I have an 05 automatic with the dual magnaflow catback exhaust setup and I am looking to find some headers to complete it. Other than that the car is stock. So far everyone is saying to go long tube but I havent really found any reviews on them. What headers, shorties or longtubes do yall suggest? I want something that will atleast sound good. As far as performance goes I havent found any numbers from headers anywhere...Can someone help me out? Im hoping to spend no more than $600 on them and thats pushing it but i got $1000 to work with.

Long tubes boost performance +, shortys may lower hp rating -...Either way I would suggest some SLP's or maybe even Hookers if you really wanna get crazy!!..

hi, welcome to AFM and the forums. i would think you have enough to work with to cover it. if your going all out performance, long tubes would be the thing. i just put some ebay generic shortys on mine( 114.00) i`m sure they are helping some performance wise, for sure they are set up better and flowing better than the cast iron was. sound got a little deeper and just a tad louder. but i didnt want to mess with the cats, and it worked out great. have fun on here

ya know, as cool as those headers would be, i would put that mod on the back burner and buy the cai/tuner/custom tunes package. you can get a jlt cai,sct tuner,3 tune package for around 550.00. you`ll get the most performance gain from that set up.

Long tube seems to be the way to go so I think thats what I want but what brands are the best without breaking the bank to bad? I looked for SLP but found nothing for the 4.0 v6. I did find some MAC and pacesetters but I havent heard to much about those. Any other options? Let me know what you guys find and maybe give me a link or something...thanks

How big of a problem is it going to be to hook up the longtubes? Anyone know about what it will cost to get a shop to install them? Will the headers mess up my current exhaust in any way?
Sorry guys im a newbie and looking for answers...

long tubes headers that are not catted will require you yo get catted mid pipes H Pipe gives you deeper sound and X pipe gives you a bit more hp but also gives a ricer sound in higher rpm range in some setups

you will need to have your 02 sensor cable extended to reach your cats in there new location

and then your mid pipes will connect to your dual exhaust

if you got the same dual magnaflow i got then you really need to get a mid pipe because your exhaust from your mid pipes goes to a y pipe into a single 2.5in piping for about 12 inches then back in to the magnaflow y pipe
