Question Help V6 fog light grill help

I purchased the fog light grill from americanmuscle.com and tried installing it tonight and I am having a little problem. The tabs on the side of the grill are not staying in. I will put one side in and the other side will pop out. I go put that side in and the other side will pop out again. it also seems like the horns are preventing it from fitting snuggly as well. Does anyone have any suggestions or photos on how to modify it so it will stay in there? I feel it is going to fall out. Thought about maybe installing a screw on each side of the grill to keep it in place but don't want to do that just yet. Thought this would of been the easy part but it isnt.

Thanks in advance

Chris

Technical Note. It may be necessary to make minor modifications to the horn bracket on some Mustangs to allow proper clearance for fitment of this grille.

i pulled that from the link you gave us i was thinking about getting that same grill

also check the sides of the grill to see if you can see if there is any scraping that could keep the grill from staying in place

I'm not sure what modification to actually do...was hoping someone on here knows what to bend or take off...wish it was like the 60's mustang style that just bolted on in place....

Someone else, can't remember who, on the forums just had this same problem. He moved the horn more to the center, and it should fit.

If you get this to work let us know. I was thinking of getting the exact grill. What are you doing for a switch? I want the factory GT switch (I have no desire to cut a hole in my panel)

I have this grill and had to move the horns to the center for proper clearance , BUT you also have to cut off the outer horn mount off with a saw or I used a cut off wheel , if you dont it will push the grill out everytime you try to push it in ,, I really dont have any pics of install , The wiring harness is routed through a rubber grommet in the lower drivers side , You must take out the inner fender well to see it , You just use a sealer after you get the wire run , I also used the factory switch , It is expensive at 90.00 but worth it since it works like stock , You wouldnt have to though , the pony grill wiring harness is used with this if you bought the kit with factory switch , It is an add on harness so it does not run through the smart box like the factory one will , The Instuctions are goofy to say the least , But I was able to figure them out , Hint , There is a yellow wire that is suppose to hook on to another yellow wire in the harnes in the left side of the car , NOT all the V6 cars had this yellow wire mine was MIA and was another color , It is used to hook up the High Beam cut out out , if you leave this unhooked your fog lights will work all the time not just on low beams ,, This is what I did , Hope this helps out ,

If you have the same issues I am not buying a grill.

Ok so the americanmuscle v6 to gt conversion kit is attached and looks awesome. Such a mean look as compared to the small v6 fogs that came stock. I did however run into the two common problems that people are having, both dealing with the horn. First the horn mount was in the way, and because I am lazy and didn't have the proper tools, I just bent it out of the way with a wrench. Once the grille was installed I just bent it back, and the radiator cover hides the dirty work. Second problem, the horns themselves. There is a simple solution though. I just took off the front horn mount nut and loosened the back one. This should give you enough slack to push the horns out of the way and have them rest next to the larger fog lights. Then just push with force on the bottom of the new grill and viola! A clean looking GT style grille. I always epoxied the V6 pony emblem to the new grille with water proof 2 part epoxy. I took it to the car wash today to see if it would hold and all is good. Hope this helps.

I don't have picture of the installation process because I did it at night. I can put a picture of the finished product tomorrow.

Wow, that looks great! I've been thinking about it for my Torch Red 6er, but was wondering how it would look in real life. Thanks for the pics Shoe48 - has anyone else done this upgrade that is willing to share pics? Thanks!
