My 2006 Mustang has almost 50 k and this week the Emissions Warning Light came on. I plan on taking it to the dealer on Monday.
Does the emissions warranty cover components which cause this light to come on? I have put on a bolt on after market muffler.
Will I have problems with the dealer because of this and can this void the warranty? How about taking it to checker and getting the codes. Can you guys help me find the problem if I post the codes?
Lots of questions. Appreciate any help.

try resetting the computer unplug for 5 minutes or so. allow it to learn the new mufflers.


it should be covered. did u have a shop do the mufflers? ifso have a recipt ready!

The muffler has been on for 2 years with no problems. This is a new event.

i dought it has anything to do with the mufflers. most auto parts will scan it for the code, that might give you a better idea what your looking at. i`m at 58,000, never had that light on ..yet.

what 05h is saying is,,disconnect the battery and let it sit for a bit. it might clear the code for a while, but if there is a problem, it will come back on. we had a engine light come on( the only one so far) on the 06 at 28,000, i did the battery trick, it came back on. we thought it had to do with the gas cap not being on tight but it needed a new fuel pump. and it was still running pretty good.

Went to Checkers and they don't read codes anymore. Went to Auto Zone and they checked it out. Small Evap leak. Looked the gas cap over but found no problems. Cleared the code. We will see if it comes back. What else could be an evap leak besides the gas cap.
