American Muscle Tune -vs- Bamachips or Tillman Tune
I just purchased a C&L CAI and SCT tuner from American Muscle (great customer service experience). How does their custom 93 performance tune compare to the Bama 93 Race tune or Tillman equivalent?

i bought the SCT livewire and loved it. I felt it was one of the best upgrades that I got. Even before I got the CAI, and just had the tuner i could immediately feel a difference.
I have a 87 AM tune and just got a 93 bama race tune and its sooooo much better. much more responsive, pulls harder in the 2000-3000rpm range and and way faster at WOT.

Here are the differences between Race, Torque, and Performance, as taken from the FAQs section from Bamachips. To address the OPs original question of is it worth it and how much better it is, this is a general understanding as to why getting one of this tunes is better than a generic "custom" AM "performance" tune.
"The Torque and Performance programs differ in the range they are aimed at for making power. The Torque is more so a daily driver program that focuses in on the 1500-3500 rpm's band. In order to do so well in that range though it does give up a few HP up top and this is why I break it apart from my Performance adjustments.
The Performance program is aimed at more of a 3000rpm and up rpm band focusing in more on the top end horsepower and all out performance driving. This is a great track tune but also works well daily driven.
The Race tune will further enhance the drivability of your new Mustang. Using the highest grade of fuel available in your area I can write a tune that will bring the throttle response to life. Enough so that I wouldn't recommend it for daily driving use as it may try to jump out from a stop and possibly even spin the tires. This wouldn't be good if you were beside a police car. One of the true benefits of this tune is that it doesn't increase the timing or reduce the fuel so it can be used with only the premium grade fuel available in your area. Finally with the automatics I use an entirely new shifting curve and torque converter scheduling to further enhance the all out performance of the car.
All of my programs are safe to use for daily driving unless we agree on doing something otherwise."
Hope this helps!!

I have the 93 race from Bama-with c&l intake. I'm 57 years old and laid down a strip of rubber the other day without even trying. I'm an auto and when going wot the shifting is fast and hard--totally makes the car a true sports car! IMHO you can't go wrong with either!
