has anyone fitted a trans oil cooler on their manual 197?

i think im going to do one on mine it gets wayyyyy to hot.

im thinking tube, to a fluid pump from the bottom, then through lines, oil cooler, and drain back in top...what do you people think?

is the fluid full ? normally the standard doesn't get that hot compare to the auto, because there's not to many moving parts in stick shift that's why they put cooler for the auto but not in standard shift, most cases, but i'm sure some guys here will give you some ideas

Standard procedure with road race cars. Use a Tilton electric oil pump and AN lines/fittings.

For a cooler, use a B&M radiant type with an attached fan. Not that expensive, compact, durable.

However, I have never seen this done on a street car. There's just no need for it. Maximum temp is somewhere around 250-280*. Have you actually checked the oil temp with a probe type thermometer? I'd bet you're not all that hot.

Picka nice hot day with blazing sun. Drive 30 minutes up the highway and back in 4th gear. Stick the thermometer into the fill hole and see what you get.

good call ill try it out.

all i know is that shifter gets hotter than it used too.

i may do it just to be cool. dont need a fan, ill mount lower. aair pass through cold. dont need a draw on it
