Default DiabloSport Predator Tune Installation...

Hello everyone,

I was torn between getting a DiabloSport Predator or an SCT Xcalibrator 3 for my 2006 4.0L Mustang. Despite what most 'stangers said on this forum, I went with underdog Predator. Mainly because my work discount got me the tuner for slightly over $200 brand new. And let me tell you what. If you have a 4.0L Automatic Mustang, go with the Predator. I am running the 93 Performance Tune with Firm Shifting and it feels like an insanely different car. Especially when hitting Wide Open Throttle. This thing will throw you back in your seat when it shifts, plus I can easily squeal the tires from a stop, not to mention chirp the tires in second and third gear when tromping on the gas! I have no doubt that the SCT tuners are also amazing tuners but I feel that they are more beneficial to actual racers and GT guys rather than V6'ers. If you want a simple plug and go tune with big gains, the Predator is the easy way to go.

I was terrified while installing this tune. Making sure not to start the car when it asked me to turn the ignition on and off. I read numerous entries of people encountering tons of engine codes going off and practically ruining there 'stang. But, after about 10-15 minutes of being on the edge of my seat in panic, there were no lights, no issues, just major performance gains.

By the way, I am running this tune without a CAI and still experiencing big gains. Majority of engine code issues I have read are from guys who are running a CAI as well. A CAI isn't needed to feel a huge difference.

All in all, if you are V6'er looking for a big performance gain, have $380 and 10-15 minutes to spare, then go get a Predator. You won't regret it. It makes your 4.0L engine run the way it should have from the factory. Mind you, you won't be spanking a GT anytime soon, but you'll have much more fun trying to keep up with him!

Also, the stock tune is extremely easy to re-install into your pony. DiabloSport makes it very easy to do.

Hope this provides some insight to the DiabloSport Predator.

Congrats dude Are you running the canned Diablo tune? If so get a Bamachips tune and it will be even better! I used the canned Diablo tune for a little bit which felt a little better than stock, but Bama's tunes feel like they will run circles around Diablo's tunes!

I would definitely check out Bama. When I used the Diablo tune I actually got worse gas mileage than on the stock tune. With Bama's tunes I get about the same gas mileage as I did on the stock tune, but I would probably get better gas mileage if I took my foot out of it
One warning though, if you get Bama's 93 race tune you won't want to use anything else

Mine does all (Bama tune)that except easily squealing from a stop.

I've always wondered about that.
