Default Used a canned tune with different mods.....

I only have a K&N drop in filter, and usually run the canned 93 with firm shift, and today I loaded the Steeda with firm shift canned tune from my diablo just to see how it felt... and wow, what a huge difference over the 93 performance tune from diablo! This post/message is kind of specifically to question those in the know.. If It isn't knocking/throwing codes/ or otherwise performing poorly, why the heck not run said tune if it feels better to the butt? I can't hear any discernable knocking, the temp is great, and If It was a carb'ed car, I'd say it was tuned to perfection. So why not keep it and continue running it if it runs great? Doug at Bama? If it works, can I keep it?

Hmm... Your car may just be running richer now... I'd expect to see gas mileage take a plunge??? Hmm... Interesting...

So if I understand you right, you installed a Steeda CAI and used a canned tune from your diablo tuner (assuming the right options were selected). And you are asking if you can keep it?

I think you can. The tuner changed the A/F ratio so it is correct. The reason why people can custom or email tunes because they will be better than the canned tunes. Is it running rich? Perhaps. I think most tunes tend to run a little rich just to be on the safe side. A custom tune will be spot on of course. By the way, when I say custom I mean they take your car and put in on a dyno.

No, not exactly vlad, I have a K&N drop in filter in the stock 4.0 intake. I have been using the canned 93 performance tune from diablo, and just for giggles, I loaded the steeda cai tune (I don't have a steeda cai) and it runs better than the canned-no intake-tune.

I wouldn't risk it. I am pretty sure the car is running rich. I don't know exactly what will happen and I don't know if it is as bad as running lean. Perhaps the Steeda provides slightly more air than the K&N and that is why you haven;t been getting any codes. But think of it this way. It like adding sugar to your drink, might taste good but in the long run you might loose a leg.

My advice is don't risk your car. Save up and get a CAI. Play it safe.
