Hey all,
I have been toying with the idea of adding 4.10 gears with T-lok. My only concern is that the car is my daily driver and I have a 35 mile commute to work. Will the 4.10's kill my mileage?
Later,

I would like to know as well has anyone ever used 3.90gears? I have been told it would give me lots of torque but not hurt my MPG as much as a set of 4.10 would ??
pretty much you got with the 4.10 or the 3.90's your gas mileage is going down the pooper expecially if your doing any type of highway driving even in city driving you will see a drop in gas mileage.
with a 4.10 or a 3.90 of course you will get less MPG. You guys may want to consider 3.73 since you are still using on the highways. That gear is still great for accelleration and good for everyday/ highway driving.

i dont really clock MPG because i dont really take that much of a notice, but over the life of a half quarter tank i usually get about 75 miles to a quarter (4 gallons of gas), and that is in the city. and at 70 mph in 5th gear i am at 2700 rpm.

id imagine if you were getting about 240 Miles per fill up right now it would probably drop to about 215 or so. also a good compromise is 3.55 if your worried about gas. it will be more of a kick than you have right now (just a though)

I have 4.10s in mine and trust me its not that bad!
dont listen to these guys haha go 4.10! its so much better and completely worth it!
i went 137 miles over the weekend on 3/8 of a tank of gas at 80-90 mph adverage! idk how many gallons are in the tank..im assuming 13? but its still really fun!
the only thing that will take a big hit is the stop and go traffic mileage but it does that with every car!
3.73's arent nearly what you would expect!! ask Burnrubber4.0, he went with a 8.8 rear swap with 3.73s and wasnt too impressed if i remeber right! with 4.10s your little v6 with pull like a v8 and if you mod it right and and still hang close behind a GT!

hmm i really wanna go 4.10s plus t-lok also but i drive like 6 miles to work everyday and back so im not worried about gas mileage too much...
should i go 4.10s or 3.73s?
I was also wondering if Ford Racing makes 4.10 gears for the v6 model and if they do wehre to find them... stumped..
i dont believe that FRPP makes 4.10's for the 7.5" rear end but i know Motive does and thats what i run. alot of people complain about a "whine" that the gears make but as long as they are installed correctly you shouldnt have any problems. mine a slight noise but its nothing volume level 1 on the stero cant cure

ahh thanks a lot... ive been straying away from motives because of that exact reason. Well payday is coming up which indefinitely means my quarter mile time is going down!!

Jesus, I consider 400 miles a tank the minimum for my car. If mods = half the mpg, then... ouch.
My comute is 30 each way, and I have the 4.10s I think however that on a whole, my mpgs have gotten better, as I spend most of my commute in stop and go and rarely get moving over 40 or 50. So I haven't noticed such a big drop in mpgs. You wont regret the 4.10's. Trust me.

my point exactly
even with your Rpms being at around 3,000 when ur doing 80mph on the freeway mpg is still pretty good haha
