Default in need of advice, new to the V6 world

alright guys ive finally collected some cash and im ready to start spending, a little backgroud on my car, its an 08 pony package with a newly installed pypes true dual exhaust. though i have a few questions about the best parts to follow.

high flow cats? do they add horses or reduce so much back pressue you loose power

are headers worth the 4 or 5 hundred just to add 15 hp?

how much power will be gained from upping the injectors? is it harmful for the engine?

i need a suspension that can handle some curvy mountain roads, would lowering springs and bushings do the trick or do i need to step it up a notch?

are there any mods i could do to my automatic transmission, what exactly is a rachet shifter?

would switchg to 3.73 gears kill my MPG?

also what are some good semi low priced mods that would be considered a must have for any v6 owner

my next buy will hopefully be a CAI though im not sure if i want to buy the tune now or wait a little longer. any advice?

thanks for the help in advance

go with a cai/tuner combo. It will give you the most hp for the money. Get the combo from tillmen, brenespeed or bamachips, let them know what mods you have made and they will set you up with a custom tune. The tune will also address your shifting.

from what ive learned the dont do as much for our cars as for others. the exhaust manifold is already pretty good, but will cahnge sound of exhaust

id say wait till you do some more mods but thats just me

how much power will be gained from upping the injectors? is it harmful for the engine?
im not sure O.o lol

maybe considering getting gt take off sway bars and a strut brace. bout 300. add take off struts and shocks for 100 more.(i think you already have the rear with the pony package. hope someone else chimes in)

are there any mods i could do to my automatic transmission, what exactly is a rachet shifter?
its a shifter that acts like a manual shifter where you can shift up by pressing up or down by down. it also allows for driving with the normal automatic drive function.

(IMO not worth it. its like 500 and i don't really like the way it looks. also with a tuner not really worth it)

would switchg to 3.73 gears kill my MPG?
No from what ive heard. im considering doing the same thing later this year. ive heard 4.10 are better for automatics but they will kill your mialage.

also what are some good semi low priced mods that would be considered a must have for any v6 owner

CAI and tune combo. I just ordered Bama 91 race tune and C&L CAI. supposed to add 25 hp and tq + you bama will adjust your tunes for future mods for free so ive heard. (will need this for new rear end gear set

my next buy will hopefully be a CAI though im not sure if i want to buy the tune now or wait a little longer. any advice?

buy the tune now as well. this allows you to get a CAI that requires a tune and will do more than a CAI that doesn't.

thanks for the help in advance

hope that his everything ^^

I haven't heard much but from what I have heard, not really.

are headers worth the 4 or 5 hundred just to add 15 hp?
No it is not. Not in my opinion. They look better and might sound better (to each his own), but I am not sure if they will add 15 hp and there are better ways to spend the money.

how much power will be gained from upping the injectors? is it harmful for the engine?
I am not sure on how much you'll get out of it, but I am pretty sure something like that needs a tune otherwise it will be harmful.

i need a suspension that can handle some curvy mountain roads, would lowering springs and bushings do the trick or do i need to step it up a notch?
Since you have the pony package you should be fine with the sway bars. The springs and shocks will improve the handling and you can also look into the control arms.

are there any mods i could do to my automatic transmission, what exactly is a rachet shifter?
Corban pretty much answered it. There aren't really mods out there. I did see a guy who made his shifter look like a manual. Selling them to. Search online. I can't remember exactly where I seen it.

would switchg to 3.73 gears kill my MPG?
Not kill but would make it worse.

also what are some good semi low priced mods that would be considered a must have for any v6 owner
I assume you have good mufflers so there you should be fine. Also look into a distributor coil and wires. I hear good things about them.

my next buy will hopefully be a CAI though im not sure if i want to buy the tune now or wait a little longer. any advice?
NEVER! I say again, NEVER run a car with a tune-requiring CAI without a tune. It WILL damage the car. My advice, buy the CAI and tuner combo together. Go to brenspeed or bamachips and look at their combos. For under 600 you'll get a C&L or JLT CAI (the two top picks here), SCT X3 tuner and 3 email-costum* tunes from them. The best bang for the buck out there.

thanks for the help in advance

I think that answers it. I hope anyway.

a strut tower brace works wonders for the frt end. 1-200.00. your rear sway is good but you could upgrade your frt sway bar with a gt takeoff. its alot thicker for around 59.00.
