Default 2005 v6 mustang suspension problem?

ok, so I got a 2005 v6 mustang, the issue is a very bad ride I have a feeling its a bad shock(s) its very noisy over bumps and the rear end kinda moves all over when I hit a bump I believe its a shock due to the fact that there is a ton of construction going on where I live with horrible roads. basically it feels like im driving with a flat rear passenger tire, I have no clue what else this could be iif anyone has any idea or suggestion as to what it may be id greatly appreciate it

well as a sports car our suspension is a lot stiffer than it would be on sedans or other cars. it could be that your just not used to it yet. if you think your suspension is bad try the old school test: press down on a corner of your car and if it doesn't pop back into place but bounces like 3 or 4 times, its time to replace your suspension. however i have noticed that going over even small dips in my car will have drastic effects. theres a dip on one of the roads i drive every day, and if i hit it, my whole back end swings out into hte other lane. kinda scares me every time O.o

first thing to do is look under there real good for signs of any damage or leaking( wet area) on the shock or loose bolts. do the bounce test. if it stops at one bounce thats ok. if its leaking, bad. best thing you can do is get a takeoff gt rear sway bar. it will make the rear more solid feeling, eliminate bounce, and even cut down the sway feel in high wind on the highway. how many miles on the shocks? 30-50k i change mine. i went with gt takeoff struts and shocks. its nice

the shocks and basically all suspension parts are oe with 108000 miles!(i have a hell of a commute to work all freeway) this evening when I left the gym something told me to check the lugs as my tires were replaced 6 days ago, as I tried to turn them by hand both passenger side tires had a few lugs that were way loose I tightened them up when I got home went for a ride and it seems to have made it a little better handling wise, I still feel the huge "dip" when I make a left turn witch I believe is the shocks I think the loose tires contributed to the destruction of the shocks or other suspension parts im gonna change out shocks this friday"pay day" and see iif that's it if not its on to coils/sway bar until I take care of the problem ill repost saturday. I appreciate all the comments and with this info more comments/suggestions are welcome thanks

ya, thats alot of miles. you should torque those wheel lugs to 100 ft lbs. for sure you need shocks, your springs are most likely ok. a rear sway would work wonders. the gt shocks are just a wee bit firmer too, and the takeoffs are cheap too. heres rear shock and a sway bar...

Mustang Take-Off Suspension

if you can swing it, this is the way to go right here. it would be the best thing you could do for cheap:

ya, it seems like a good investment thru and thru my only issue would be the struts and anti sway bars considering I've never changed those out on any vehicle I've owned so that's the only part im worried about ya know I guess that's what the haynes manual is for tho lol also as I was looking under the car I saw what I think is the tie rod arm boot was punctured with a stick on the passenger side front, should I be concerned about this well I obviously am but will it do anything if untreated for awhile? lol sorry kind of a newb at those kind of repairs as for the suspension package I more than likely will buy it and I appreciate the links and comments

are you worried because youve never changed them yourself?

if yo udont want to take on the task take them to pep boys. i wouldn't imagine it costing more than 50 considering it costs like 20 to weld on new mufflers. with new suspension bars your car will only get better. its not like forced induction where you could blow a valve or crack a piston.

My backend jumped around bad when I hit bumps, the rear GT sway bar helped to reduce the jumping. Here is a complete GT suspension takeoff on ebay, cheap.

I just got done replacing the rear shocks on my 05 V6 Vert with a pair of GT Vert Takeoffs....$39.99 for the pair! The car had about 64k on the originals. Nice change in the ride with the take offs. Bit stiffer but not harsh at all. I also did the GT take off sway bars front and rear about 2 weeks ago. My gawd what a difference in handling they made!! Sway bars and rear shocks are a piece of cake to put on, front struts I will also leave to a shop to do.

holy crap!!!! can you cancel the order from the dealer? you can get aftermarket poly bushings for way less and they work great.
Moss Mustang Store - Parts and Accessories for your Ford Mustang
