Default Help with install on front and back rotors

Ok I am going to be getting new rotors all round and have never installed any before. I am wondering if it's as easy as doing the brakes and if not what do I need to do I don't want to take them off when I get the new rotors and then be sitting there with a dumb look on my face lol

you have to take the tires off first, but you probably know that already. Then you have to take the whole caliper bracket off from the back of the hub. Remember to hang the caliper up with some string or zip ties to not kink up the brake hose. then the rotors should just slide right off pop the new ones on and reverse the assembly. If you have ABS the front drivers side one im not too sure how to take off because they have a gear and sensor behind it.

It's really easy to do. I did mine recently. The hardest part was getting the front ones off. I had to beat them pretty good to brake up the rust. Also, make sure you get the right clamp for the caliper pistons.

you might have a spring washer/clip on one stud holding the rotor on. you can smack it straight on with a sharp chisel or use a screwdriver and bend it open or turn it off.

What he said... I did not put that washer/clip back on and have had no problems with the rotors.

Also make sure you get the Compressor Kit for the back Brakes. I did not know about that and was using the same Piston Compression Tool that is used on the front and well it did nada. This is the one I used and no issues...

AutoZone.com | BrakeTool | RearDiscBrakeCubeforUsewith3/8in.DriveTool

Hope that helps

If you don't want to buy the tool you can rent it from autozone also.

You can own the tool for 12 bucks @ Auto Zone. I picked up the same one @ Harbor Freight for half that. Auto Zone wanted $50 deposit on tool plus the hassle of the return.

Default Pimp G

Spite what PimpG said you don't take the Caliper bracket off, unless you are doing the GT upgrade. all you have to do is the 2 bolts on the back of the caliper, loosen and pull out so caliper rotates off rotor. I hope if you're putting new rotor you are also installing new pads, or you'll be replacing rotors sooner then you think. once you pull caliper hang it out of your way to remove rotor, install new rotor. you'll have to push the piston on calipers in, to get them over the new rotors. good luck..It's not that hard been doing it since I was 17. Oh! make sure you clean the new rotors with brake cleaner to get any oily residue off.

Default sell outs..

It's our countries way of being like the rest of the world with the metric system. just like our money is getting ready to something they call a amero so all of N. america and Mexico will have the same monetary system, in other words our money wont be worth crap.

mustangcr8z thanks alot I still haven't ordered the rotors I don't know if I want to go all out and get some performance ones or just new stock ones would there be any difference in install because you mention GT upgrade or something..... and yea I have done brakes for a while that probably the easiest thing to do on a car but just don't want to hurt my first stang lol so I have to double check if I am doing something for the first time.
