Thumbs down Almost overheated!!

Alright so i always check my gauges and always check everything under the hood ALL the time just to make sure everything is OK and perfect with the car. So today I was dropping off my friend and as i was sitting in the car waiting for a car to pass by so i can make a u-turn i glance at my gauges and see that my car is running HOT. I quickly find a parking spot and turn off the engine and check whats going on but couldnt find anything.

Turned on the car and the gauges went back to normal but that wasn't going to convince me. There was a gas station right across the street so i pulled in and checked under the hood. Just so happened my brother pulls up and see's me and comes over and checks the water. It was almost completely out of water. There was barely anything left so i filled it up and everything.

Anything like this happen to you guys??

if the coolant is gone, there is a problem. could be as simple as a rad. cap, hose clamp or hose. we have seen a few lower thermostat housings crack lately. you need to pinpoint where the loss accured.

Have you seen any unusual puddles under the car?

Yea the thermostat housing cracked on me at 10-20k miles but i was boosted.

More then likely its coming from there, its kinda hard to see it, your gonna need some sort of coolant in the car to locate it, like some neon green or yellow, definetly not red though, i dont kno the logistics but it messes up the car supposedly. Water works but not easy to find the leak

Yeah, I've had the car suddenly get very hot on me, but that was the dealerships fault. The body shop at the dealership forgot to hook up a radiator hose before they let the car go to me. Even made me and my wife late for work that morning. Then when I got the car back later that day, they still forgot to hook the hose back up, I had to do it myself.

Your lucky you caught it just before the car shut off on you. Mine did that just as I was pulling off to the side of the freeway.

my thermostat housing just cracked....
i was driving right past a ford dealership and i saw steam coming out of the car!!! i looked at the heat gauge and it was past red. i was like OMG!!!!!!!!!!!
so i pulled into the ford dealership. opened hood while all hte sales men are walking around like "o now you need a new car blah blah blah" there was one who was a ***** who was like i wont touch anything under 300 hp.

so i got a service rep to do write up. she said never seen on mustang but has see on the ford explorers. could see all the water around the thermostat housing.

what really pissed me off is that the first service rep told me to drive the car around. i was like WTH are f-ing crazy, there is no water left in the car. he said well i cant do anything unless its over here, so my dad gave him what for 5 minutes later. (dad is former marine)

hoping my car is ok and not gone too long. i was going to do my exhaust tomorrow...................
