Default Car currently out of commission

well earlier today i was leaving my dads house, going over to our dealership to get new headlight units. going down the hill i heard a weird high pitch whine that lasted 2 seconds and a really fast one that lasted like 1/2 a second. didnt think anything of it.

as i continued to drive i thought to myself "i why would i hear something i never hear and hten nothing come of it?" but i continued driving with the windows down.

at a stop light i smelt something weird but couldn't tell if it was my car. about 3 miles later, i stopped and thought i saw steam but couldn't tell cause my sun glasses were on. by the time i took them off, there was no steam. the next signal i could defiantly tell there was steam. glanced at my temp gauge, and it was above red.

i intimidate pulled over into a ford dealership (lucky me lol and also wasn't my destination), stopped as fast as i could and popped the hood.

i waited till the steam stoped as all the salesmen were trying to talk to me about my stripes and visuals i had done ("did it come factory like that", "i wont touch anything under 300 hp", "wow looks good") and i'm like wth are you guys oblivious to the fact my car is steaming??

so i walked over to the service department and told a rep about the car (still under warranty btw, after market). he tells me ther eis no way he can look at my car unless i bring it around back. i told him he was crazy! my needle was past the red, but he would not walk the 100 feet through his store to my car. so i called my dad. (former marine)

i walked back to my car and checked out the engine, lucky i just cleaned the engine bay, i could tell that there was something under the throttle where all the water was pooling.

found out later its the thermostat housing. they will have it replaced tomorrow, and hopefully there is no engine damage otherwise my car will be gone for atleast a week

Dang man! You went through quite the ordeal. I'm glad that everything is under control and nothing too serious happened!

Well... We're at least praying nothing serious happened...

welcome to my world!!!! dude!!! thats half my problem

trust me

get the part from ford.

go buy a new thermostat

but a roll of teflon tape.

useing i think 8 MM bolts remove TB.

then take out the 3 top bolts of the coolant hose.

3 lower bolts of houseing, take off.

unclip the sending unit.

take old O ring out and put in new piece, bolt back on.

teflon tape 2 wraps on teh sending unit and stick back in TAKE NOTE OF HOW THE CLIP GOES IN THE SIDE NOT FRONT OR BACK.

then drop in t stat

and then bolt hose back on. its a simple 30 minute job!

ford wanted 275 to do it.

the thermostat houseing is $54.

at least yours dident blow up on the drag strip, spew out all 3 gallons of coolant 4 hours from home in another state.

if you need help PM me. thats 1/8th of the reason i havent had my stang for a month.

id do it myself though man. its cake work

Which dealership was it at?
You're lucky it is still under warranty. Usually the car would have shutoff before any damage happened. That's what mine did to me on the freeway.

oh isnt that nice. thats why unless it was a huge money repair, i would rather do my own repairs than let anyone touch my car. course i have no warenty on the 05 but thats fine by me. i took mine in once to get a spare key and fob, grease on the seat and door. then the body shop that fixed my frt end forgot to recharge the a/c. g/f took hers in for a fuel pump under warenty. she left there with the car spewing fuel down the highway till someone waved her down. whats up with repair places? they must practice to be crappy
